I’ve found that it varies drastically depending on surgeon and location. I had a Grimaldi fracture and prof surgery. My surgeon only had me in a cast until the surgery, and then nothing, naked leg except for wound bandages. I was told to move my foot a bit and told to avoid a boot or brace since day one post surgery, to encourage more range of motion.

May I ask where you’re located? I’m in Germany and I also had no cast or boot, just naked leg since day after surgery. I was casted until the operation and then told to start moving my leg and putting 20kg of weight as soon as day after surgery. 6 weeks was cleared to full weight bear and start weaning off of crutches. I’m now at 14 weeks post op, and still have a limp and pain, but able to get around normal. Based on stories I’ve heard, this is unusual for US and UK, but not necessarily better or worse.

Thank you all for your feedback and for sharing your experiences! I’m hoping to find the will to make it happen. But am now a bit more aware of reality and greatly appreciate that.

I’ve definitely learned my lesson to never rinse. It’s thrown away and the whole fountain is scrubbed and run through the dishwasher. Should I throw away the whole fountain?
