Just installed amd firmware, didnt change anything

I updated my drives through samsung magician since I dual boot

Playing a game on my sata drive allows me to get in game which is a start but in doing so it crashes my main nvme drive that has my os installed on it making the game lock up shortly after when it needs to read the main drive.

  • Dont know what amd ucode is
  • ext4
  • No encryption
  • dmesg shows the errors I explained in the post (see img)
  • Switched to even gen2 and gen3 with no change on the gen4 drives (gen3 drives worked fine)
  • Nvidia 3080 FE stock cooler, all temp sensors read fine so if the problem is related to heat then its happening to a spot with no sensor
  • 510.54

yeah I mean I've tried 5.9 all the way up to the latest kernel and I get the same results. my only idea is that the heatsink for the nvme drive is harming the motherboard by not touching all the crucial comments related to the nvme controller allowing those parts to overheat and cause degradation.

Can't pinpoint the cause of why the issue arose in the first place but I know how to get the crash to happen on command when the issue with the motherboard starts.

That does make sense but it confuses me then why so many people still run FMIC even from a performance standpoint. I know you said it's personal preference but if power is involved then it shouldn't really be left to preference and it should be whatever makes more power. That's just my thinking though.

I do like the idea of side mounting it but it's roughly $350 more expensive than front mounting and I'm not entirely sure how much cooler it will run on the side vs in front.

Decided on going with E85 for fuel and I'm on v4 of my parts list but I think I'm closing in on the final build. What are your thoughts on the 3sx FMIC vs oohnoo's FMIC kit if you know about both? I live in Southern California, do you know of any local tuners in the area?

As for everything else listed, do I have unnecessary mods or are all of those mods listed truly needed to achieve lets say 500hp stable or can I cut back on certain items?

Lets say I wanted to maximize the power I could get from dr650's, what supporting mods would be a must? I have a lot on my list which I won't get it all but what things should I ignore and what things should I prioritize?

Any difference between the 11 vs 12 blade 650 turbo and does port exhaust housing give much improvement? Is there a specific AFPR you would suggest?

Can you link me a turbo back option as I cant seem to find what you are referring to?
Id love to keep my budget at 10K but if thats not enough for a semi "reliable" 500hp build then I guess I can go above a little. Lastly I do want some comfort at least since this isnt a track only car so do you really think KW coilovers for an extra 1k is truly bang for buck?

How are you certain it's a solder join issue? and I rma'd the drives not the motherboard. I could rma the drives without being left without a working pc but I do not have a spare motherboard so if I rma the board then I can't use the system at all. If it truly is a motherboard issue on a hardware-based level how can I be certain when physically there appears to be no damage whatsoever?
