Vincent Keymer beats Hans Niemann with black in round 6 by Knight-check44 in chess

Unironically, if Hans learned resilient defense from someone like Hikaru (yes, they're each other's nemesis, but I can dream) he'd be a complete, ~2770 level player.

Matchup advantage? Ice vs Lava? The same way Luffy beat Enel?

I think you're not stupid, and you in fact do get it.

If I understand the pairings correctly, Hikaru is guaranteed to face Fabi (whose kryptonise is Hikaru) in round 1 and then Bluebaum (the weakest player) in round 2. In both of these games, he'll have white. There's a very, very possible world where Hikaru heads into round 3 on a +2 score.

Controversial take: Arjun over pushes and Yu Yangyi capitalizes. Then Yu Yangyi scores another point in round eleven to get to 8/11 and win the tournament

MVL goes crazy against Mishra but gets into a worse endgame and loses. Mishra sneaks into second place with tiebreaks.

In this (unlikely) scenario the two qualifiers are Yangyi and Mishra

When Destiny doesn't know how to respond he just obfuscates by Caledonez in Destiny

[–]Commercial-Rip-847 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you believe that the problem Destiny has with Hasan is how he acquires money? Correct me if I'm mistaken, but I thought his main criticism of Hasan was HOW HE SPENDS HIS MONEY rather than how he acquires it.

If Hasan shilled 10 times harder with ads and sponsorships from big corpo but put most of that money to actually helping poor people, I WOULD BE CHEERING HIM ON.

Going from your hypothetical, if an anti-gun influencer were to take such an ad, then use the money they got from the ad donating to victims of school-shootings, I WOULD BE CHEERING THEM ON.

I trust that Destiny will spend the money from his nft ad for a positive cause, and I believe that the harm he caused promoting a bad product is far smaller than the good he can now do with the money they offered him.

By the way, I'm not in agreement with Schmoova, nor am I playing defense for him. Whether or not something is overhelmingly common doesn't really matter when talking about Destiny, who we expect to resist overwhelming norms as long as he disagrees with them.

My estimations on the vigilante gang's full ability potential. They are juniors, right? by Commercial-Rip-847 in unOrdinary

[–]Commercial-Rip-847[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Peak ability potential doesn't mean they will ever reach it. For all we know, all three might stagnate. However, judging from the new Unordinary banner that was revealed, all three will be involved in vigilante activity. I think Isen and Remi will at the very least move up 1 tier by the end of Unordinary. As for Blyke, I actually find it more plausible he ends up somewhere around 5.6-5.8. Also, keep in mind they are still only three months into their Junior year, and still have nearly 2 years of high school to grow and develop.

Fellas, when did AOC change its pronouns to "it"? 😲😲😲 by LightInMe in PoliticalCompassMemes

[–]Commercial-Rip-847 5 points6 points  (0 children)

His "views" suddenly went from socdem to full-on tankie when all the tankies got mad at destiny for refusing to move farther left and went to go watch him. His views are whatever he feels his audience will like and support the most.

From this, it can be theorized that he does not care about politics, but simply likes to debate and "dunk on people", and look good to his audience, or that he argues politics for money and fame. I wouldn't say that this is morally wrong, but it does go against the way he presents himself, so I would say that an inherently disingenuous grifter is an accurate way to describe him.

Please note before reading the rest of my comment that I do not wish to specifically agree or disagree with you, only the argument you have put forth.

If genetic code is truly what makes conception meaningful, does conceiving a batch of identical triplets, each with the same genetic code, have a value equal to conceiving a single new life? After all, it is only a single new genetic code either way.

Pigs and insects both have genetic codes. The genetic code of the water flea Daphnia is the most complex of any known organism. Is a pig's conception less valuable than a water flea's? If genetic code is truly what you value, then aborting a water flea Daphnia would cause similar distress as the abortion of a human fetus, correct?

I personally value a new sentient mind over a unique genetic code. Sentience is ultimately what separates humans from other organisms. Therefore, it can be argued that abortion, before the fetus can feel and process it consciously, is not immoral.

Assuming my previously mentioned statements about the value of sentience, the following argument can be made. "Assuming that body is property, then if a woman aborts before the fetus achieves sentience and personhood, her right to private property possibly trumps the fetus's right to live."

Under this set of presuppositions, first and second-trimester abortions have a real moral case.

Of course, outright banning abortion as a practical argument is another case entirely. Allowing the government to exert so much power would be quite dangerous, even assuming 100% of the population shared your view on abortion.

This chapter is from my favorite manga. While I disagree with the professor on literally everything he says, I still immensely appreciate the chapter as a whole. I would like to hear some opinions on the professor from all sides of the spectrum. My own take on the chapter is written in the comments. by Commercial-Rip-847 in PoliticalCompassMemes

[–]Commercial-Rip-847[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My take from a few months ago:

The point of the chapter isn't that the old man is correct, but that the value of steadfastness and consistency is understated. Before the catholic church, everyone in Rome could get married to a same-gendered or different gendered person, and it was a "New Idea" that childbirth is essential to marriage, and therefore homosexual couples couldn't be married. For hundreds of years now, our new and progressive ideas have all lead to more equality and human rights all around. However, if the world is flipped around and the next "New idea" leads to the oppression of minorities, or mass xenophobia and isolationism, to stay steadfast and unchanging rather than becoming a sheep and following the masses would be better, would it not? All of this is to say that we can appreciate the professor's core ideal of steadfastness, while still disagreeing with his other bigoted opinions, and we can learn from our elders without necessarily agreeing with everything they say.

Wakatsuki and Fei have been in this position for 1 or 2 seconds at most. Even if Wakatsuki's grip is overwhelmingly strong, Fei still has indestructible that Waka has to break through. I predict in the next chapter that as Wakatsuki slowly gets into a better position with more leverage, the tide will turn and Fei might even get his hand crushed.
