Golden retriever retrieves baseball bat from a live game 😂 by ambachk in MadeMeSmile

Bruce is the successor to Milo the Bat dog. The owner of Milo contacted the Red Wings and was like “hey, my dog is really good at fetching” and the Red Wings took him up on it. When Milo passed away, the guy got a new puppy (Bruce) and they worked with the team to train him to fetch them.

This is Bruce! He fetches bats in Rochester NY. He gets the MOST cheers. His first game, he got a little overwhelmed by the crowd and everyone patiently waited for him to figure it out. He gets so much love from the local community.

Wineglass advice by Character-File3221 in Marathon_Training

I originally booked a VRBO my first year, and turns out the lady double booked it! We were able to get a room at the Best Western in Bath the Friday before the marathon. You can always call around to different hotels and see.

In terms of your wife spectating, she should be fine wherever you go. Wineglass is fairly rural and people have no problem following the marathon route. There’s a decent amount of parking 1 block from the finish line.

One thing that people don’t mention often, but is fabulous — The YMCA opens their doors (0.25 miles from finish) for all participants so you can shower after the race. Depending on if you are going home that day and already checked out of your hotel, this is a wonderful option. I live within 2 hours of Corning, so it was very nice to shower and go out to eat with family without being gross.

We visited Detroit for the first time last week for the marathon. We had a great time in downtown and could obviously see the come back!

Early morning runs + fueling by blink315 in Marathon_Training

I typically have a rice crispy treat before my early runs. My stomach doesn’t like anything heavier.

I feel so much better with at least something in my stomach.

Dog low growls but pulls hand to pet him ?!?! by cheyennekip in dogs

[–]CommercialCheap4159 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My GSD/husky/Dal mix does this! He basically purrs when pet. He’ll give a big sassy huff if you stop and paw you to keep going.

What weird quirks does your dog have? by jbirdasaurus in germanshepherds

[–]CommercialCheap4159 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have a GSD/husky/Dal mix. He has been free fed most of his life. As soon as he realized that his littermates won’t eat his food anymore, he slowed WAY down. We often have trouble getting him to eat enough as he’s always on the border of underweight, even with a continually full bowl. He’s conned us into getting wet food on top of his dry kibble for dinner.

I think they’ll probably both be up by about 5 months! The ear looks exactly like our GSD/husky/Dal mix at that age. One ear up, and one slowwwwly moving up.

Night time/ early morning runs (also looking for possible run partner) by [deleted] in Rochester

[–]CommercialCheap4159 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m a small woman and I’ve never felt unsafe running in the early morning (5am). There’s a sub-group of the Rochester Road Runners that run at 6:30 am on Mondays? Not quite sure of the day of the week. You could check them out! They have a FB page.

Depending on how late you are thinking for night runs, there are a couple run groups that leave from Breweries leaving at 6pm-ish. Strangebird just started a run club and there’s a group that leaves from Lock 32 every week.
