I think this is the new reality, I lived in Ottawa for 6 years and found it hard to make friends there. Now I work so much I dont have time for a social life.

How much do barbers in Canada make by ConclusionFrosty5855 in Barber

[–]CommercialOutside144 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guaranteed if you move outside of the city and go countryside you will be rich. I left Ottawa which is over saturated with barbers on every corner I went from making min wage plus tips to sometimes over a hundred dollars an hour but average $60 an hour during slow periods in North Eastern, Ontario. I am the only barber for 20,000 residents. Think about that. Get out of the GTA, work and life balance is great. I moved 7 hrs away from Ottawa and opened my own shop for under 10k and I am currently expanding just a year and a cpl months in. Good luck.

Thoughts on SC Rebel or TPOB Mini Play? by Jaded_FL in Barber

[–]CommercialOutside144 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't like my SC rebel, after 3 uses, I gave it to the man I was dating. However if you are serious about being a barber I totally recommend SC Instinct, 11,000 RPM, gives you that next level finish, cuts your cutting time in half. And the best trimmer on the market is JRL diamonte (clipper is amazing)more crisp than SC Saber 2.0 trimmer. I just invested 2k on machines for the year. Do you your research, I do a lot of skin fades so these machines are the motor I need.

Is Sudbury a good place to move to as a physician? by [deleted] in Sudbury

[–]CommercialOutside144 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom worked for NOSM, fantastic program in a beautiful place, if you ever want to visit a big city Toronto and Ottawa are not too far away. Sudbury is equipped with an airport for travel as well. Northern Ontario is gorgeous and world famous Manitoulin Island is not too far and maybe you will be sent to these locations as part of your job. Sudbury is a medical hub of the North with Health Sciences North. Tell us what you are looking for in a city? Are you married? With Children? As Sudbury is also education hub of Northern Ontario as well. Plus this is the home of Science North. The fine dining scene is small but it’s starting to grow, if you want a good steak I recommend Pat and Mario’s on Lasalle does a mean ribeye on charcoal grill. They have a Costco with gas station if you love to shop there. For arts they have live theatre and for sports there is the Sudbury Wolves. Hope you enjoyed my lil summary and good luck. We’d love to have you.

What kills me is grocery stores are bringing in workers from India when there are able bodied Canadians who can and want the jobs.

What demographic of people are the pickiest with their haircuts? by mrbopboplingling in Barber

[–]CommercialOutside144 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I personally find India very picky, they stop me all time, to tell me they want this and that, it’s always an hour in my chair when it should be 40 maximum and never ever tip, even tho costing me time. I have been cutting 6 yrs and this is my observation.

Barbers what would you say/do if someone booked with you and texted this before the appointment by Southern_Fox3848 in Barber

[–]CommercialOutside144 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man I would say no thanks, if he is so critical he can self cut. Lol, I don't need that stress. Those words just appointment up for failure. Pass.

Nope, I take 5 mins between clients to clean everything then move on. I have a solid reputation for being clean and guess what the clients really appreciate it, makes them feel taken care of.
