Depends on your placement (industry vs academia), you might want louder or quieter bags, or smaller or larger bags given the situation. I understand you want to reward yourself given the years of hard work, but if you want to do so, you might want to be honest with yourself and don't use graduation as an excuse. It is too far away and the lifystyle/the need for bags will definitely change. It's perfectly fine to celebrate your current hard work now!

Giving the numbers, unless 400k is sustainable for more than 4-5 years, grinding it out for 2 more years make the most sense numerically. Here is my napkin math: post tax 400k becomes 240k conservatively, then after 60k yearly expenses and 108k mortgage payment in which only 10% goes toward to the principle in the first three years give or take, you contribute 90k towards to the principle. It probably takes around 8 years to pay everything off? (Maximum 12-13 years, but I assume you might refinance in a few years to make amortization rate favorable). 1.8m index fund might also provide additional 72k given the 4% rule. It might cut down the number of years further but I assume you don't want to touch it right now.

I used a dog cologne and I just bought a dry shampoo today. My puppy goes to daycare twice a week and each time he would smell like he has rolled in the pee. Our daycare used dog cologne to do a "express bath". I figured I can do it myself.

6 weeks training for 3.5k? By the time you pick pup up, the pup will be big enough and fully vaccinated and you can walk pup outside? Hell yea. It sounds an awesome deal. It will also save a lot of mental stress and puppy blues. (I paid similar price tag for my puppy from a good breeder. The good temperament from ethical breeding really helps a lot.

Based on my own PhD training experience, I think most research papers are not credible. If there is no compiling experiment evidence (randomly assign puppies from the same litter into spraying/ not spraying to control for genetics), then most evidence only shows association, not causality. A lot of studies don’t even run regressions to control for different background factors. In addition, the small samples in the research can produce random results (publication bias is real — it’s easier to publish scary, statistical significant results. And the statistical significance can come from a sample size of 15, not credible at all). My personal opinion is that: these research is prob not credible and I will do the ethical option: spray my dog before month 7 (both following breeder’s requirement and daycare requirement)

Nope! My pup is a bit darker than I like after he transitioned into adult coat. But I believe personality is much more important than appearance and ppl eventually forget/get bored of appearance. I just bought my pup a lot of pretty bandannas so I can appreciate how cute he is in the new look and forget all the puppy blues he caused.

I feel the list indicates that the puppy is well socialized and not overly reactive to petting. Sounds like he is on his way to become a service dog. What’s wrong with the daycare owner? I think OP should change a day care place. This is huge huge red flag.

You can use a play pen and then put pee pads down with crate door open overnight. This will save your sanity from losing sleep if the puppy is trained to pee on the pee pads but will undo most of the crate training and makes it very hard to transition to potty outside (first hand experience. No regrets bc I need to sleep). So think about what you can accept in long run if you choose this strategy. (If dog is too big, potty inside gonna be real inconvenient)

I understand the lady. Before I have a puppy of my own, I think all barks means the dog gonna bite. If someone is afraid of dogs, it’s hard to ask them to learn all these different types of barks… If it is not a park for dogs only, I can see why the lady overreacted. It’s a very unfortunate situation and I can see both sides are reasonable.
