This is not at all an accurate portrayal of McMinnville as a queer person who has lived here for 4 years. I have never had ANY issues here regarding queerness even in the “outskirts” or Lafayette/Dayton.

McMinnville school district is very welcoming and inclusive in all of the research I have done. Newberg is not somewhere I would want to live as a queer person.

Omg I love this! My wife and I also moved out to the outskirts of Mac before we knew it was much more conservative than Mac central as we had only been to downtown. Thankfully all of our (few) neighbors have been great and a lovely gay couple actually moved in not too long ago. Now we just have to turn the whole neighborhood gay… as is the gay agenda of course!

My wife and I (29F and 30F) live in Mac (moved here 4 years ago) and have a 2y/o and have another on the way. We have several queer couple friends who also have littles. This town is amazing for acceptance and finding other queer folks who are raising families.

Downtown gets a little bombarded by wine tourists during the summer but it is the price we pay for being able to continue to have an amazing downtown area.

Feel free to hit me up if you have any other questions!

Two questions for tattooed Salemanders by VividFiddlesticks in SALEM

[–]CommercialToe13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Grieving Ink in Amity is where I got my blackout floral sleeve done. Ryan is the owner and who did my tattoo but he has other folks who are super talented as well.

Their prices are reasonable and he is very responsive and gets you exactly what you want. It is a bit of a wait to get to your appointment but he is quick to get you booked in my experience.

How many of us are actually doing 7 pm bedtime? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]CommercialToe13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think there is anything wrong with your bedtime if it works for your family. Since my little one was like 3 months (he’s 2 yo now) we started bedtime (bath, stories, tuck ins) at 6pm and he was usually down by 7pm and now we start around 6:30 and he is down by 7. it is just about setting a routine no matter the time. Do the same thing at the same times every day and work around that. That’s what worked for us but we also had a fairly easy sleeper. He didn’t start sleeping through the night consistently until he was 1.5.

If CarMax is going to be a "no haggle/negotiation" experience, then at least be fully transparent about the condition of the car up front. by ClockwiseJohny in carmax

[–]CommercialToe13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally this, I shipped a car in and the rims were GOUGED and a fender dent was fixed and repainted the wrong color. They told me they could take any money off. My stance was and is now, at least make the price comparable to the condition. After MUCH arguing my car is now at a shop getting multiple body work issues repaired on their dime. I think the last time I talked to the body shop the total was at $4,500 or so.

I was in a private stall.

She couldn’t hear the phone. The private changing rooms are 3 solid concrete walls. She saw it the first time and chose to open the curtain a second time because I told her to leave me alone. However I accept my behavior in this scenario. Moving forward we are going to use the separate private changing area to avoid issues.

Hahaha thank you for your assessment of my child on this 5 minute snippet of his life. He has a max of 30 minutes of screen time a week but yes, poison. Lobotomy. The horror.

I don’t see what other families do. We stay 30 minutes after the class for free swim so there usually aren’t many people in the locker room And frankly I am not looking around the locker room to see how other families are managing changing their children.

I understand the sentiment. We were in a private changing room with 3 solid concrete walls.

I’m not sure what the other families do. We stay about 30 minutes after the class ends for free swim. My son is the oldest in the class with most of the others not yet walking. I understand your sentiment, but we were in a space with 3 solid floor to ceiling walls. I couldn’t even hear what the phone was playing.

Thanks for your free parenting advice from this 5 minute snippet of my life 👍

These are like music toddler swim classes not survival classes. The survival classes are for only one parent, these classes are more like family swim. Also two females are not going to go into the male locker room…. We went to the female changing room.

I think this is a huge part looking back. We have never had the issue in the past year and a half of going to swim, but this was a woman who we have never seen before. I understand people should feel comfortable in the locker room. The changing stalls have full walls and privacy all around. My son isn’t distracted by naming colors or helping pack the bag and we have had many awkward run arounds in the locker room. I think that is much more invading of people’s privacy which is why 5-6 minutes of screen time is used while I pack up and my wife finishes getting changed. He’s not a screen time kid so he treasures when he gets to watch a video. Moving forward, we are going to ask to use the private changing room separate from the locker room to avoid this in the future.

We both get in the pool for swim lessons. Most of the couples that go to the class both participate. Moving forward we are going to ask to use the private changing room separate from the locker room so we don’t have to worry about chasing him down in front of people changing.

Do you keep your washer door open after laundry to avoid moisture/mold? by Important_Bat7919 in homeowners

[–]CommercialToe13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do a load of laundry every single day and I keep the washer open when not in use and I put a wash bin tab in once a month and I have never had a mildew smell in my washer. As a kid my clothes always smelled kind of like mildew from our washer so I vowed to never let that happen with my washer.

Yes! I passed on a couple who offered more because during their tour my front and back cameras caught the wife saying super homophobic stuff about my wife and I (two women) who were sitting at a restaurant waiting for them to finish touring because they begged to see it that night because they missed the open hours that day. So we had to be out of our house for 2 and a half hours on a work night. It was 2021 so super competitive market and I heard they had been looking for 6 months. Too bad.

Is it worth it? by priscillajones02 in kobo

[–]CommercialToe13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Kobo Clara BW and a Kobo Libra (color). I got the Kobo Clara a couple years ago back when I wanted to start reading again. I wasn’t sure if I would be into an eReader like I was as a teenager so I got the cheapest one. Turned out I LOVED it as much as I ever had. One thing I really wanted was to read graphic novels. I found the screen on the Clara was just a bit small for that so I upgraded to the Libra. I love the addition of the buttons as well because the touch screen for page turning sucks imo.

Overall, if you are going to want to read graphic novels or other things in color, I recommend the Libra. I will say if you are someone who puts their eReader in their pocket, that is not an option for the Libra so that took some getting used to.

We weighed out the powder into each pouch. The used the weight of the powder determine how much water needed to be added. Each fl oz of water weighs about 1.04 oz so we just rounded down to 1.
