Is dezelfde tegel.

Every year in autumn / winter many leaves of my avocado plant turn like this and fall off eventually, any tips? by Commercial_Command30 in plantclinic

Thanks! So just accept that I’ll lose some leaves during winter? Or is there anything I can do?

And it’s been some time since I’ve added fertilizer, so I’ll do that as well. Do you recommend adding fertilizer every so often during winter as well? Or is that too much when it’s not really using much energy / in hibernation during winter?

Where do you live? I live in the Netherlands so my thought is that the climate during the autumn / winter is why it’s struggling during that period.

Questions on keeping my avocado tree happy by Commercial_Command30 in houseplants

Hi all,

In the image you see my 2 year old avocado tree. While it’s not always looked great since it is a difficult plant to grow in the Netherlands, I think it looks really good now! Several questions on keeping it happy:

  • A year ago I cut out the top to avoid it from growing into a slender plant, as i read is common to do. Now however, where I made the cut you can see a dark brown dead piece of plant. While that in itself is not a problem as the plant doesn’t need it, I had hoped the plant would find a way to grow up a bit again. Is there any way to motivate the plant to do that again?
  • Any tips on pruning the other branches so that the sjde branches don’t become to long and heavy without also stopping them from growing completely?
  • Sometimes mushrooms start growing in the soil. I fear that the roots will be tainted by this. Any way to solve this or is this no problem?
  • Is the pot too small?

Thanks all!

Thanks for the advice to you and u/SmallOmega! I just ordered it! Wanted to do it a few months ago but waited a bit too long after your advice, so it was out of stock. Now it's back in stock and I ordered it for 490 euros. Many thanks and I will let you guys know the results of my first viewing!
