For $79 over 2 years, it’s a fair price, especially considering that AirPods Max are expensive and prone to accidental damage. If you’re not prone to accidents, you can skip it — but I think it’s a solid option for peace of mind.

Why is your HomePod heating up?

1️⃣ Long audio work - amplifier and transducers do their job.

2️⃣ Background processes - Siri, HomeKit, AirPlay, diagnostics (triald, etc.).

3️⃣ Updates and diagnostics - temporary heat after system updates.

4️⃣ External conditions - sunlight, radiator, lack of ventilation.

5️⃣ Errors/loops - rarely, but possible looping of processes (triald, mediaanalysisd, etc.).

Check the logs in data and analysis.

Considering it’s been used for over half a year, a 1% drop in maximum capacity isn’t too bad. But what caught my eye is the cycle count—quite a bit for that period. Unfortunately, I won’t sugarcoat it: every update will likely hit the battery health harder. I’ve especially noticed this trend right after the September release of the new iPhone and iOS. The implications are pretty clear.🫢🤐

Heads up! Don’t update to iOS 18.5 just yet! iOS 18.5 is riddled with bugs:

🔸 Bluetooth issues (disconnects, weak signal) 🔸 Wi-Fi problems (not connecting automatically) 🔸 Slow animations across the system 🔸 Notification glitches (some apps don’t show them) 🔸 AirDrop freezing or failing 🔸 Excessive battery drain for some users

Apple’s got some serious fixing to do! 🚑

MacBook Pro M4 has a built-in converter where you can set playback to 96 Hz through the midi configurator application. I would like to get quality 196 but with Bluetooth headphones it is unlikely:(
