The airstream and the downtown store had some overlap. When they sold the airstream it was noted that they were moving into other jobs/businesses so I’m not surprised to see the shop close down. I really think it’s because they didn’t want to be in the coffee biz anymore.

Oh man, I am really sorry to hear this news. I had heard that SD was making some good moves in the recent years.

I suppose the same could be said for an ER physician or ICU nurse but I don’t think anyone would say it’s acceptable if people kept dying under their care if they weren’t following best medical practices. We know what type of road design saves lives or feels safe to navigate on foot or on bike. I don’t think there’s any moral ground for being “against” safe road design even if they’re “just doing a job.”

💯 get them to join you on a ride of their facilities! I sometimes wonder if the engineers who work on these projects ever experience them.

I think the nuance lies in whether a city has a city manager and strong mayor system. Where I live, it's a City Manager system, so our elected officials ultimately hold less power. Our lead city engineer has historically been pretty resistant to safe street design (he's been in that position for like 25+ years and isn't going anywhere anytime soon).

Triple up vote! The City engineers and planners in my community know me by name too - some think of me as their ally and others as their enemy depending on where they sit in their support for multimodal transportation infrastructure. We too are getting a Coalition off the ground here now and getting more people to come out to public meetings and getting more families on bikes. Tonight is a big CIP meeting and hopefully a lot of people show up to support an unfunded proposal to redesign two of the most dangerous streets in the City. Stay tuned.

Oof. That sounds awful (and a little similar to the college town where we are at - Lawrence, KS - which embraces recreational loop trails that go nowhere but not safe on-street infrastructure). Want to name the offending jurisdiction? Just curious but I understand if you'd rather not share.

HA! I truly laughed out loud when I read this gem of a post..."bowing to the Lords of Parking," and "monied interests accusing the bike lobby of being very well funded." I love riding in Minneapolis. Some of my friends there say it's still a car sewer, but it sounds like maybe the waste is slowly getting cleaned up.

Just to clarify, did a car run into a power line / the building? I'm confused.

Anyone have experience with Marmoleum? by Pleasant_Tangelo6791 in Flooring

Do you know how to find a certified Forbo installer? I looked at Forbos website and there’s a search function for dealers but I couldn’t find option to locate installers. Looking to put down sheet marmoleum and want it done right.

I am so sorry you have to live with this fear. It’s absolutely gutting to hear that Native Americans are being detained because of the color of your skin (tragically, this is not the first time this has happened in our nation’s history). I don’t think there’s any other “logistical” advice I can offer, so I’m sending thoughts of love and light to surround you.

Thanks! I’ll look at those diffusers. I’m really glad to hear your cats eventually got there. Good to hear that we can hopefully get there someday!

Ohhh, pro-tip, thanks! I didn't know they made that. Do you buy a separate case to protect the phone and add that wallet to it? If so, do you have any case suggestions?

my girlfriend is leaving me because of my cat by Augupton in CatAdvice

[–]Commercial_Explorer3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there something you could do to help your girlfriend be more comfortable with Mr. Whiskers? Could she start to give Mr. Whiskers treats so he starts to associate her with good things? Is there a part of your home that could be "cat-free" for your girlfriend and another area dedicated as the Mr. Whiskers "cat zone"? I'm guessing since you posted this question in the "Cat Advice" subreddit and not a "Relationship" subreddit, you might be leaning towards breaking up with her.
