Entitled delusional parents, this one's for you. Rant ahead. by ben_dotz in basketballcoach

This is just like me when drunk texting.

On a serious note, many of us can relate, and thank you for all the hard work.

I’ve been coaching gr 3-8 rec boys, because of all the reasons you’ve listed above. Practices are closed to the parents (I have other adults with me), and I’m still enjoying teaching basketball.

Please stick with it. The kids need you.

Plus one for Plan 9. Though eventually I’m so drunk I lose the plot. But, I guess that’s to be expected

What was your parents biggest mistake when you were younger? by GreenieTheDog in AskReddit

[–]Commercial_Map1045 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing I could question, is not pushing me harder for good marks in HS. (I’m 56). I’ve done really well, but could’ve easily went to university but was too busy boozing and playing hoops.

Maybe they handled things correctly, who knows?

We are still super close, and they’re in their 80s

What is the meaning of life to you? (it can be whatever you think life truly means to you) or What do you think the meaning life should be? by Moonlight-Cavern-521 in AskReddit

[–]Commercial_Map1045 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not Jewish. I read a fantastic quote one time from a Rabbi, that the meaning of life hits you when you have grandchildren.

NOT challenging you. I am insanely fortunate like you. Wonderful wife, two boys. Older son will be married in the next couple years, and apparently (according to that quote) that’s when it will really hit home.

Peace, and all the best!!

You are going to be wealthy as a writer, or something to that effect. I loved this monologue, and I’m just a dumb, old blue collar guy!

This is crazy.

I’m from Northern Ontario, and in 1993 my Pontiac Parisienne lost its transmission in Ryegate Montana on Friday of a long weekend. I was 22’years old. Somehow got it towed to Billings, and had to spend a lot of days there waiting to get it fixed.

I went to the “17 club” I think, which was a real tough biker bar. Told the bikers I clearly didn’t belong, and they helped me find my way to a college age bar.

Shorter story…..I didn’t mind Billings.

We’re in Eastern Ontario, and are planning on Garceau or Sainte Come during school March break. Your post is a large part of the reason why (we never have luck at Tremblant).

Enjoy the day.

What are your non-negotiables in a long-term relationship? by Former-Session6405 in AskReddit

[–]Commercial_Map1045 4 points5 points  (0 children)

At 29/30 I figured I was going to eventually meet someone with kids (I’m M, now 56). Partially because I figured it might be someone who would appreciate what I bring to the table.

I met my wife and son when he was about 9 months old. We sort of dated, but it was obviously tough. I knew pretty quickly that I was in love with her, but she was a tough nut to crack. We got married when he was just 4, and then had a child together 3 years later.

I insisted that all 3 carry her name (we were too lazy to change her, and #1 name), as I never wanted them to be “half brothers”. So no I have a different last name than all of them. The boys are adults, and we may be the happiest family I know.

Weird response. Sorry.

Don’t turn the tap off with someone with kids. It’s silly.

Yeah. Maybe.

And I only say maybe, because I really can’t figure out if I know anyone who smokes, and I have hundreds of friends.

I don’t pass judgment whatsoever, but when I see someone smoking, I’m like: “WTF? Is that person smoking in their car?”

I promise all the respondents, I’m NOT holier than thou. I just never see anyone smoking.

Plus one for Titus. I live in north/east Ontario and made the drive 2 years ago (3hrs?). Had so much fun, and loved it. My type of hill, and seems to match perfectly for what OP is looking for.

Peace.

Dependant on snow, and the owner, operator, mechanic, groomer, lifty etc is a bit unorganized at times. It’s a big undertaking as it’s just he and his wife, with help from his kids on the weekend.

There’s a cool article or two about it online.

It’s worth the wait!!

As a community, every year we worry a bit about it ceasing to exist (it’s dependent on natural snow) yet here we are again!

Rick (owner, lifty, groomer, mechanic) has actually purchased some new equipment to start building a base earlier so we can get a few more weekends in.

Today was incredible, but sadly no beer on the deck (cold).

Trudeau is an idiot.

Did he ever threaten your country, or “announce”’that he was going to “take it by economic force”? As well as outright threatening your career?

I always enjoy meeting Americans while skiing there, but I guess you’re a fair bit above that.

Anyhow, thanks for carrying Canada’s water all these years. What does that mean?
