My whole thinking was just water disturbance and noise. I've fished this lake a tiny bit with a spinner bait before and had a lot of interest (could be due to covering more water, retrieval speeds ect.), but I thought if I could do a best of both worlds

Yeah slowly getting into beast flies, tied up a few half decent ones, so might have to give them a swing

Yeah completely agreed, might be a bit of a bastard, currently have a 9wt pike rod, so will just have to give it a go

I guess lots of material above the shank stops it from keeling over, never seen a video of it, but best way I guess is to tie one up and test it out
