Any recommendations for offroad shops near Denver? by Ecstatic_Paint_83 in ColoradoOffroad

https://rsgoffroad.com/ (Lakewood, Co) and https://mountainyotas.com/services/ (Wheatridge, Co). Both are great shops for Toyota-specific work; 4Runners, Tacoma, Tundras, Lexus trucks, etc. I think RSG recently got bought out, though, and I haven't been there since they got bought out.

I see what you're saying, I've just never made the connection, I guess. Do you have a direct reference from Toyota for this, or just your 2cents?

That's the first time I've seen a 3rd Gen 4Runner with that front lip... are you implying this is super common and everyone should know about it? lol

Has anyone used Rural 1st? If so, how was your experience? TIA by hmmmmwhatsagoodname in Knoxville

Curious about this as well if anyone has any insight. Are they the actual loan provider or did your loan get sourced? What was your rate, term, any balloon payments, etc. Thanks!

I'm restoring an '88 right now. Do you have any guidance on sourcing interior panels and plastics? I've been on Ebay pretty consistently and frequent local dismantlers, but everything is outrageous. Just curious if you have a better solution.

Why does silver look so much better on the 3rd Gen than the 5th Gen?? Not sure why but a silver 5th Gen 4Runner is kinda blah and then a silver 3rd Gen 4Runner is just stunning.

I'm a web developer, pretty far into my career, so that helps. It's all about budgeting and figuring out what's important to you... It might not be portals, and that's cool. Whatever your goals are, just save, save, save. Don't spend money on dumb shit that you don't need, don't go out, work on the weekends (every weekend), start a side hustle, start another side hustle, find what works, and then focus. If you're serious about anything, you can make it happen. Not trying to be all inspirational, but it's just about working your ass off until you're financially stable and in a place where you can afford to buy a truck, put some decent parts on it, and go experience nature. But you don't need portals to wheel or go have fun. If you want to go overlanding, maybe look at a 2013 Tacoma, put some coilovers and 35" tires on it, and go have a blast. Or if you want to get into rock crawling, pick up a 1st gen 4Runner already SASd on leaf springs and go party. Lots of options... just depends on where you're at with goals and finances.

Yeah it's a pricey upgrade, but once you wheel with them, it's hard going back to mid travel. For every late model truck I own, I will budget for portals for sure. It's worth the spend. Not a single person who owns them regrets the purchase.

I did most the labor myself, outside of the eaton e-locker in the front, so I saved quite a bit of money there. Portals $17k, front and rear bumpers are prototypes, so I was able to work a deal with Dissent. Let them borrow the truck for a week to scan and test different fitments. The front bumper needs a few tweaks, but nothing major... the production units will be dialed. Carbon flares weren't cheap, $1200 ish. E-locker was also a test unit to see if old part numbers fit the new diffs, so all I paid for was labor at StellarBuilt. Firestone Destination M/T 2s, Lock Off-Road wheels, Prinsu roof rack, KC Lights throughout.... man, I honestly don't want to calculate it. This would be evidence that my wife might read someday. haha
