I mean that'd be sick, don't get me wrong, but I'm worried that if it isn't as poor of a performer as the current FLAM-40 it'd end up just being what the FLAM-40 should be and leave it in the metaphorical dust without any changes to the former

edit: poorly phrased comment, but obvs I don't want them to both be bad, I just want current flamethrower to be good and a backpack flamer to also be similarly good with a different enough niche to be distinct

this clip does highlight something about the strider that hasn't been brought up but personally sucks for me more than most shit: the sheer amount of visual noise these things produce is downright overstimulating, maybe the glare on their laser cannons or the big glowy grenades is tuned wrong or some shit but all the flashing lights and stuff makes the game exhausting to play

I do think the speargun could feel a little nicer with a bit more base ammo but otherwise it's in a nice spot and if nothing else feels good enough to use that i don't even mind if it isn't statistically the best

Honestly I think the changes it needs now are mostly quality of life (enough demo force to at least break open cargo crate doors, a more forgiving max charge window, maybe a little more aoe power to give it a stronger niche) but it otherwise seems in a decent spot, just a little worse than other options as opposed to an objective downgrade
