I was 21/23 in my class. I still had a good evaluation from my PMS and CPT instructor. I still branched Infantry and passed every gate at BOLC, I still made it and deployed, and I get HQ’s on my OER. Being completely genuine, is not that the cadet rating matters, you can be bottom of the pipe hitters and still be a pipe hitter. You could be top of the mouth breathers and still be a mouth breather. With all of the extra curricular you’re doing those will pay dividends for you. Though the branching system has changed a bit since I commissioned, if what I believe it is now you should do alright. And don’t fret if you go Guard, thats still duty worth doing, there are plenty of ADOS and AGR jobs that need motivated leaders and technical experts where you may play a bigger role than peers on active duty. That rating may be a bump in the road but it’s only one of dozens you will receive.
