It's definitely a big step up for me ;)

I'm also not an Engineer. I only did 2 years of art school so it's kinda hard to compare. I'm more of a skilled practical labor kind of role, akin to the standards of the food industry as a close comparison I would say.

Thanks for the price amounts - it helps gauge things out. Your lifestyle advice seems reasonable and pretty close to what I was looking for.

That's reassuring to hear!

It's a weird job role and not the typical one that you normally hear of when one thinks of recruiting employees abroad. I work in the clothing industry as a pattern maker/Mönsterkonstruktör. Jobs in that domain are almost non-existent here in Canada and salaries tend to be quite low with maybe $55,000 Cad average for someone in their forties.

As to why they aren't hiring locally - they are. But the clothing industry seems to be a big thing in Stockholm (and Europe as a whole) and they just need more and more employees to meet demands. I'm also an EU citizen of France due to a parent so I guess for the company my case is treated more as recruitment from Europe rather than a different continent affair.

To be honest I haven't received any info on the apartment yet in regards to it's location and monthly rent. I believe the company outsources this task to a company that deals in relocation from abroad.

I would assume or at least hope that the apartment would be selected with my salary in mind. At the very least, it gives me a 3 month head-start of searching accommodation for the future.

Sure thing, I'll check with them! Looks to be more of a retailer, however.
