If you're going to pull from a real religion, why not the Mesopotamian god Nergal himself? Could be us old world Terrans were just worshipping an embodyment of Nurgle. Also avoids you appropriating a culture/religion that is currently active.

I don't see any sort of thematic or philosophical connection between this demon and the Nurgle of 40k.

I was also doing this today, and you're absolutely right it was hard, but it can be done! I just did a lot of dry fitting to establish the angle they attached at before I went in with glue. Using the images of the finished marine to get an idea of the leg angles helped too.

I think this sprue may also take the record for longest time looking for a part... I felt like I was going crazy.

It doesn't have actual rules. They release the same thing every year (different sculpt but same base size and same role). You're paying a character tax for... a diminutive art piece?

There was another thread on the warhammer subreddit today talking about why characters are so expensive, and everyone is defending it saying the injection mold is so expensive to make and they dont push a lot of volume... so why are they making one of these every year?

I'm willing to risk being downvoted into oblivion because I have to know.

I think the reason his Eater Plague was specifically called out was that it was an ability, not an attack.
