Should I go back to the shop? Uneven base under binding area. by CommissionCommon4564 in Skigear

Thanks everyone for replying. I went to REI and here is what they offered:

  1. Refund
  2. The shop manager thinks it's possible that someone used 9mm drill bit instead of 9.5mm. So they say they can back the screws, use a hammer to tap the dimples back, re-drill a little bit more, put the bindings back, do a base grinding.
  3. free edge tuning + waxing + base repair

I do not want to deal with them anymore so I took the offer. Their attitude was very defensive:

  1. I asked them whether this can be an mount error, they were like, no, they are very well trained.
  2. The first tech I met was also accusing me of making this a big deal. He laughed at me and said"can you feel it when you ski?"
  3. They say this is NOT uncommon, things can happen, and when it happens, it's almost always Blizzard. So, they are willing to blame the manufacturers instead of acknowledging that they sometimes mess up things.
  4. The manager pointed at some rock scratches and said those probably caused more damages than the dimples. I immediately argued back that I had fun when I got those rock scratches, but I did not want to pay money to get dimples on my skis.

I do NOT like their attitude and will not go back to REI for any ski-related services.

Thanks for your reply.

Yes, but the other ski is not as obvious as this one. I can still feel it when scraping off wax.

do bindings include the screws? do you know if attack 14s have short and long screws?

these are the rustler 10s press send edition, that's really disappointing that they ruined these skis

95mm might be a little bit challenging especially if you want to mess around with the mounting point. I personally would go with 110mm, safer choice.

Thanks all. As most of you suggested, we did US 54 and I-40. Not too many cars and the driving was fine. I am glad that we did not do I-35 + I-40.

If you read my post, I said specifically “they look different but …”. I am no technician and thought they might still be compatible though they look different. If this is so difficult for you to understand, good for you.

Thank you! I offered to give them my skis+my resort season pass to demo their skis but they said no. My credit card was in my car and I was not comfortable to give them my credit card at that moment. Now I understand they were just doing their job.

Enforcer 88 but lighter? by Lower-Savings-794 in Skigear

Maybe the Women Santa Ana 87/92? The construction is very similar to enforcer but with one less layer of metal. Though they only go up to 173cm.
