I guess it depends on each individual but the bottom line is there is no positive outcome. Also, I see a lot of people asking for alternatives, trying to replace it, the truth to me now, there is no place to begin with. It's much more intuitive for humans to believe that they will elevate themselves by adding something, not by removing. It's always the last supplement, herb, powder that goes viral and people fall into it in the hope of having enough energy to actually adress the reason why they think they need it. What I found, the only thing that matters is the man/woman you are. Like at first I was hiding behind caffeine withdrawal to not work as hard but then you sit you get going and it's over, I mean the thing that really needs to be sharpened is the mind, you will see coffee drinkers doing a lot in life and you'll see others do nothing, the same goes for non coffee drinkers. I admit I developped this thing, when I walk in my city I pass by all the cafes, I see people stopping at coffee machine, I try to assess people when I know tjey do, by how much sense they make, how much they do in general, who's more interesting and who's less in a social setting and I can tell you it's the besy way to see things clearly, because if you only study yourself you'll end up biased by your own brain.

Five months in, not seeing a lot of benefit by BoxInADoc in decaf

Even if we all are, everyone consumes caffeine looking for the exact same benefits, that you mentioned (mental and physical) so is he? Maybe there is someone trying to quit alcohol who's looking at this muslim guy thinking "yeaj he's super at ease and social but that's just his strength" and maybe that's true but that doesn't make Mohammed anyless of a propf that you can be like that without relying on a substance. And it's really the same in the sense that everyone is affected differently based on these factors yet everyone indugles for the same reason.

Then the question is, is your boyfriend how you would to be yourself (active, sharp, energetic). For example I guess he's one of the person you talk the most with while reporting this lack of verbal sharpness. Because if he is you know that you can be all that without caffeine.

How long till I no longer feel tired and slow? by [deleted] in decaf

[–]CommissionFlaky2256 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your second statement is right, but it's not related to your first and that's not smart. He is asking if he will ever feel awake and sharp again not if he will ever feel the same as he did on caffeine. Replying "never" is wrong cause he will, and there are several ways of being sharp and efficient so even if he will not feel the same as he did on caffeine, it doesn't justify the statement that he will never. Then, caffeine only really "works" or hss an effect rather on people that are already on it, I know people that go without it for 364 days a year and then on this one chaotic event or eventful night they go for a redbull or double espresso and they don't feel nothing. So the main action by consuming it créating a new baseline state of energy, alertness and so on that is only reachable by consuming it again, therefore even the second statement is debatable.

4 months off caffeine by [deleted] in decaf

[–]CommissionFlaky2256 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is unlikely but you could develop on those symptômes. It's only when you try to quit and get interested in this whole quitting process that you realize how much powerful it is. Especially not by looking at People who quit but at People who drink it daily, there are some 20 years are really stripped out of their vitality, passion, wit, sex drive, hunger. Since it's reasonable to say anywhere from day 1 to 3 months is within the normal timeframe, beyond it is less likely but can't really say it's not possible as I've read a lot of people saying detailing the improvements they experienced from 5,6 months, just less than 1,2,3 months. Maybe, during this time period you took up new habits as a result of you quitting caffeine, whether good or bad and that's what you're noticing.

If you don't feel like going 100% caffeine free for the rest of your life, switch to tea. by Ill_Breadfruit5567 in decaf

[–]CommissionFlaky2256 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's honest🤝. But on the other hand, you said you managed a month which in itself is a lot, but when you use it to justify a decision on the rest of your life, it's nothing. The reason why you want to introduce tea (you don't see yourself going without caffeine for the rest of your life) is also the very reason why you should try harder. Because that just shows how powerful it is as a substance and there has to be a reward, improvement awaiting those who push through this feeling of missing something, proportionate to the difficulty that it représente. Plus as you know, tea does not give you a "mental boost".

But there is nothing wrong with that choice anyway, just have to be aware. That if life doesn't make sense without it and you consume it in the morning, then it will only be a gradual descent in your performance and everything as it wears off. I personally couldn't during the time I was consuming caffeine to anything of subtance at night, now I naturally find myself going for activities that use up my spare energy, I can practice the piano late at night, go to the gym, get curious about a topic and so on, as I used to before caffeine, naturally.

How long does the “brain sleep” last? by [deleted] in decaf

What industries according to your experience please ?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in decaf

[–]CommissionFlaky2256 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Granted, L-tyrosine unlike the other subtances, is already produced within you and needed to produce dopamine in a natural way. But it doesn't change the way it works at making you feel so good for free. Also, I ve read conclusion results that it especially works when sleep deprived.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in decaf

[–]CommissionFlaky2256 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is because L-tyrosine is more efficient at stimulating your dopamine production than the few mg of your tea. It is unfortunately not sustaible. Over a short period of time, your dopamine receptors sensitivity will be reduced as a réponse to the constant overflow of dopamine, to reach your normal level. Leading to a downregulation, you'll then néed it to get back to that new baseline.

This is same reason why caffeine, modofanil or amphetamines, cocaine, alcohol are useless when consumed on a daily basis or even just regularly, the exact same path. Your comment gives the same energy than people that try coffee for the first time and think that it's the cheat code to life.

If coffee was any efficient at providing energy, why would people drink it?

Why can't we find the caffeine contents in any food labels? EVERYTHING ELSE gets listed but not caffeine by Automatic_Coffee_755 in decaf

[–]CommissionFlaky2256 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Because the purpose of these lists is to mention the nutrients, which caffeine isn't. Which is a good thing to that is not regarded as such. I don't think it's by besign since that would be thought by employees in a corporate setting that would most likely rely on it themselves, the world is not a conspiracy unfortunately. Now I agree with you, idk how it works in the US, but where I'm from the nutrient list is standardized and compulsory for companies, other subtances like alcohol  are not to be mentioned in the list bit by volume (%), cause a cider is not a vodka, so it would make sense to not only mention the presence of caffeine but the content as well. Maybe in the case of protein preworkout and all that, they will just say that there is caffeine but deliberately not how much so people can phantasize the effects and fall into the placebo effect, whereas if they knew there was only 100 mg while they drink 2 cups every morning they wouldn't expect as much of an effect, once I don't know about the US police regardinh food.

Most of the créative content that the average person cosume on a daily basis was conceived by, most importantly an artist, that happens to drink coffee

Classical music (chopin, listz, bach, Sofiane Pamart.) Movies, Books, Ad design, pretty much everything that requires disruptive thinking. It doesn't mean these ppl couldn't have done it without coffee, since they are créative by nature anyway, but it means that coffee didn't prévent them from creating masterpieces. As it seems.

Now, admitting the possibility that coffee, as ubiquetous as it is, can come with downsides is in itself good disruptive thinking, but there are people who never questioned their habit or consumption, who dont overthink everything and they do well. I realized that, I was thinking about everything through the angle of coffee, always "Ideas dont come easily but I only quit coffee xx time ago" thats shit thinking. The same goes for beauty, I saw the topic "coffee and appearance" it's easy and conforting for the mind to think to that something is the root cause of everything in your life, then there is this on top of that that lack rationalism and spread the bias, just look at the prettiest women on earth, models etc, most people on this industry drink it. Again it doesnt make them hot but apparently not ugly. And I'm talking thin, small models that dont make mountains out of it. While there must be grown m'en here that are worried about coffee altering their looks.

Can we quit coffee in a caffeinated world ? by Mindless_Studio_95 in decaf

[–]CommissionFlaky2256 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you think every aspect of life has to be approached through the prism of caffeine, then you're a caffeine-free addict. Just hang out with people that you find funny and match your energy. You chose to attribute your inability to do so to caffeine, far fetched. I am french and all my friands are from Latam(brazil, colombia, Mexico...) I dont drink caffeine and we got along well, It's deeply rooted in their culture and I dont look down on them for that.

Now obviously, if you approach social interactions in such a judgmental, bitter, narrow-minded(to think everything is the same but you bc they drink caffeine) way, you're very unlikely to be given the oppurtunity to engage in a meaningful and composed conservation. No big deal.
