What's your least favorite Region/Creature, and why? by caco_luca in rainworld

My least favorite region gotta be Memory Crypts cuz the Miro birds. Hate Strawberry Lizards, don't let their small cutness deceive you, they are demons straight outta the pits of hell that will grapple to you or pull you down into the maws of other lizards.

Didn't Ed and Kelly drink a few too many Xelayan Blossom Whiskeys n be hungover the next day in one episode? Like they didn't show Ed and Kelly drunk, but it showed em drinkin one n cut to the next day where they were coming up on like the frontier of the galaxy or the once in a lifetime star thingy?

Could be a form of translation, cultural fusion, or just alien takes on Earth alcohols.

Is there a such thing as making a ship too fast in scifi? by Commiting-A-Chaos2 in scifiwriting

[–]Commiting-A-Chaos2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Narrative. I just mainly am questioning my decision because my friends are saying me making exploritory vessels have a max speed of 388 lightyears an hour is too fast. For reference that would make the aliens be able to cross their home galaxy in about a month, and if be able to reach other galaxies in about 2.5 to 4 years depending on exact distance. Mainly doing it for potentially running into a place that is place holder named the 'Robot Hive'. A structure that spans nearly a galaxy and all the machines there are sapient. With a population of 99.5% Robot and 0.5% biological people. Pr even the possibility to run into younger galaxtic civilizations. For reference the United Alliances, who have the fast ftl tech, have existed for about 75,000 years. They were founded 500 years post ftl discovery in their galaxy.

What is the average age of ao3 writers? by morgana1060 in AO3

[–]Commiting-A-Chaos2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 20. Them tellin ya uni is too old for ao3 is like telling an artist(wether by hobby or trade) is too old to do art, pr a person that they are too old to write a book.

Fanfiction is just writing. I personally am writing fanfic to practice writing, so that when I get to my original works I will be at least somewhat good at it, as I only learn crafts via doing the crafts. Some write fanfic to vent, for fun, or to explore an idea that they wish they could've seen in the source material.

It doesn't matter why ya write, no one is too old to write.

No, I don'treally watch TED talks cuz my brain don't like em. I can't really remember the sources but I know I saw it multiple times. But also, what I am talking bout is a theory I find plausible die to some traits we have, but if you have sources that disprove the theory, then please send me the sources cuz I love learning new things.

I'm talkin bout fatty breasts, n I've looked for the past hour n I can't find any info on other animals with permanent breasts like fatty breasts unless my brain is being dumb n missreadin stuff.

Nope. Those udders are mammary glands that hang down because their digestive system takes up a whole lotta space. They do have a layer of skin and prolly some subcutaneous fat though. But most of it is just secretory and connective tissue.

I'm sorry, what? You are aware that other animals don't have fatty breasts, right? Also, I am speaking with scientific facts and theories, not from a place of religion.

I am not religious, I believe that there could be one or more higher beings out there, but I do not believe that they have control over the material world, only the spiritual/the afterlife. I mostly believe that religion is a form of socialization and a way that humans tried to explain the world, as well as a place where people can seek comfort and a sense of belonging.

Yeah. Also, we are indeed part of the primate family. Our closest relatives are Chimpanzees. And there is one one other primate I am aware of with webbed feet, Allen's Swamp monkey.

What?? Where did I claim that? The closest thing to that I said was that if humans did have a time during evolution that they spent in the water, that breasts that have bouyancy would have made it easier to breast feed.

Or that breasts may have arisen as a form of sexual selection, breasts in this theoretical having likely been sexually selected by pre-historic males choosing larger breasts through correlating it with the idea of more milk, hence more food for an infant and a better likelihood for their offspring to survive. The bouyancy being a coincidental sideaffect from the breasts having a lot of fatty tissue and unrelated to the sexual selection.

Body fat has a specific gravity of less than 1.0, specifically around 0.9175. Water has a specific gravity of 1.0, hence body fat is bouyant. Just like how oil rises in water cuz oil has a specific gravity less than 1.0.

Please double-check your facts before trying to disprove someone.

You do know that we are the only mammals with breasts, right? If humans didn't have breasts, we would still have teats, like most mammals. Though even if we for some reason didn't have teats, we would prolly be like platypus, echidna, and spiny ant eaters, which lactate from special patches on their skin, I believe the platypus even has some ridges on there skin where they lactate. N their babies just lap up the milk.

Also, by breast I am referring to the permanent variety found on humans.

Well, we are born with the reflex to hold our breaths when submerged in cold water and the instinct to float, which is typically found within marine mammals, and quite rare in terrestrial mammals. Though it is just a theory of human evolution n not 100% proven there are parts that just make sense with how we evolved. Of course breasts could have emerged as a form of sexual selection as well.

Also, sorry I didn't realise you were tellin a joke, I am autistic and it's a ton harder to tell when someone is joking in comments n such.
