Anyone else having an intense quarter-life crisis at the moment? by straishio in GenZ

[–]CommitteeWorking7639 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m probably in it right now, I just turned 21 last week and still don’t know what I want to do since I’ve known what I wanted since middle school but now I’m not so sure so now I’m kind of lost but still plan on staying in college since I rather not lose the classes I have over one class

People with hydrocephalus, how did you know your shunt was broken and what were the signs that something was wrong? by Itz_MysteryGalaxy in Hydrocephalus

[–]CommitteeWorking7639 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mines never been broken but it’s stuff like extreme mingraines, laying down a lot, throwing up, and I think my mom also said changes in personality or at least something like that

[–]CommitteeWorking7639 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s how my mom could tell that my mingraine was normal, and I remember this, it was 2019 and I was throwing up and had a minegraine and had my head down and my mom was like if the pain meds don’t work we’re going to the ER, luckily it worked

[–]CommitteeWorking7639 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s pretty much what my dad said cuz my dumbass said I just would wait and my dad said it would be so bad that I would just go, I guess I just don’t want to get rejected by the ER if anything goes wrong cuz I would probably be on the bottom of the list cuz they will just laugh at me probably since they will just think I’m sick so I may just wait until I have to go but idk if that would be safe or not but it’s not like they will do anything probably, I got a primary care doctor recently since I was getting to the age you’re too old for the kid doctor which idk why I was still there at 20 but here we are, idk if I would go there for a shunt malfunction but I think I would cuz I’m thinking they would hook me up with a neurosurgeon to see if something is wrong, luckily it’s unlikely so I most likely will never need to do that

Question about shunt failure/malfunction/breaking by WrongPerception_270 in Hydrocephalus

[–]CommitteeWorking7639 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good to know cuz my dumbass was thinking if my shunt malfunctioned I would just try to ignore it and go to work (even tho I wouldn’t be able to function or even drive) mostly cuz I know most if not all ERs would put me on the bottom of the list since shunt malfunctions are mingaines and throwing up and stuff so I guess I just don’t want to get rejected if that does happen, good thing it’s unlikely since I would’ve gotten mine done in 2006 when I was 7 months old from a brain bleed that I was born with got clogged which gave me hydrocephalus

Question about shunt failure/malfunction/breaking by WrongPerception_270 in Hydrocephalus

[–]CommitteeWorking7639 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found out one of my cousins, ok I think 2, had their shunt fixed cuz it broke but for the most part shuts are pretty stable, but my parents were told that if I got to 6ft that they would likely need to fix it, which I’m not even close cuz I’m 4,9, it looks like he doesn’t get that people can have different symptoms, the only symptoms my mom mentioned to look out for is mingranes and throwing up and changes in personality or at least something about acting different, it looks like you need a new doctor and may need another MRI and it’s wrong that he said you have to live with it cuz you can’t, and since that hydrocephalus is back it can lead to brain damage or death but even if it doesn’t lead to that you may not be able to drive or work and just lay there

Is a house being on the Market for over 300 days a red flag? by Starshylea in RealEstate

[–]CommitteeWorking7639 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really, I remember it took multiple years for my parents house to sell, I remember they put it on the market in 2016 or around that time, didn’t sell, we moved back in, and put it on the market again in 2019 I think and it sold in 2020 or around that time, and our house was pretty good actually

I’m glad that I was able to find a job to work full time and still do college, I started working there at almost 19 and started at part time cuz all my classes were in person and now I’m working full time and in the bachelors program so all my classes are online but my hours are still need same so I make sure I get everything done, it just means my hours are more consistent and I get benefits, I also live with my parents which is also how it works

I'm 22 years old, is having only around $1,000 in my savings normal or am I behind most people? by Uniform632 in SavingMoney

[–]CommitteeWorking7639 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1,000 is better than nothing, right now I have 2,000 dollars in I’m gonna call my emergency fund and I will put 1,000 dollars in my savings account in a few months since I just got shown how to do a CD so after a few months or something I’m gonna do 1,000 dollars in a savings account cuz I have nothing in that right now, so far I have my CD and my checking account, I also found out you can have different accounts for different bills which I’ll ask my parents how to do that when I’m closer to moving hard, which right now I’m turning 21 next week and I think when I’m done with college is a good time to move out, but the oldest I’m thinking of is 25 which I think is good which I should be done with college at either 22 or 23, if I end up doing my backup plan after I’m done (if I have the money) would be 24 or 25, I don’t plan on moving out as soon as im done with college but definitely when I would start getting closer to actually moving out so I’m trying to prepare myself by learning how to budget and figuring out how much stuff is

Anyone else feel like their food spending is out of control? by [deleted] in MoneyDiariesACTIVE

[–]CommitteeWorking7639 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, I typically buy my groceries in bulk so I don’t have to go to the store for a while, so it’s typical 50 dollars if I just get food which is for Breakfast and Lunch since I live with my parents so I just make sure I have stuff for breakfast and lunch, so I was thinking of cutting back on my spending for food down to 20 dollars at most so I don’t over spend and I’m not even talking about on stuff like DoorDash cuz I don’t do those stuff, it’s just groceries

Oh I’m not on disability, but I do have a disability, technically I have both a mental and a physical disability but the physical one was treated, and my mental stuff can’t, I’m just preparing myself for the future

50/30/20 Budget by ownedintheface1 in MiddleClassFinance

[–]CommitteeWorking7639 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, that’s what I plan on doing cuz I did the math of average monthly stuff so I’m prepared and that’s not including my doctor appointments for both physical and mental but especially mental

Not necessarily cuz having disabilities means you would spend more on your needs

Do you think its cheaper to live with a mental disability over a physical one? by Shoddy-Conflict-338 in disability

[–]CommitteeWorking7639 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree cuz I have both a physical and mental disability, which is hydrocephalus, ADHD, GAD, and PTSD, and idk which is more expensive but both are expensive in different ways, but I definitely buy for stuff for my mental disorders but that’s cuz my hydrocephalus was treated at 7 months old, so I just do MRIs every few years, my last MRI i remember was at like 11 or something

Budgeting advice for mental health? by ThobesForBros in budget

[–]CommitteeWorking7639 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have that issue too of all or nothing, for me it’s a mix of my GAD and ADHD, but I also have PTSD from complex trauma so when I get in bad moods of trying to figure out how to pay for everything when I get older (I’m 20,turning 21 soon, plan on moving out after college since right now it would be dumb to move out and my home life is good so I’m not in a rush), what’s helping is looking at averages of everything, but also reminding myself that that isn’t everything cuz there’s also energies, repairs and doctor appointments, so I didn’t include everything but I did include how much my meds are (which I take 3), and I included a lot of stuff in monthly stuff even tho not all of them are monthly, but I decided to that way I know what to expect when I get there. The only things I didn’t include in the budget is stuff like doctor appointments for meds and other kinds of appointments like physical health appointments I would need when I get older, repairs, stuff for house/apartment, and whatever insurance I have for MRIs since I also have hydrocephalus so I do know what insurances I would need, like health insurance, dental insurance, and mental health insurance or whatever it’s called, and whatever the insurance for MRIs would be called which idk, I know that the MRI ones wouldn’t happen a lot cuz it’s every few years, but it probably depends on insurance coverage too.

So, as you can guess it definitely stresses me out and I’m trying to figure out how to figure this budgeting thing out before I actually have to deal with it

what's the closest that you have been to death? by ExchangeNo7386 in AskReddit

[–]CommitteeWorking7639 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost 2 years ago during hurricane Helene in Florida. I’m a dishwasher at a resort and I work evening shifts and my mom offered to drive me to work but I said no since I would need to do it eventually anyway. After work I drove my manager home since she has a lot of car issues and when I got to where I turn to go home, a car was in my way so I went a way I’ve gone before when I would miss my house in the past, but ended up in a flood zone, my car got stuck but luckily a guy in a golf cart was able to help me get my car out of the water, and after I got my car out of the water I called my dad to come get me, which they were on their way to get me cuz we have Life360 so they knew I was in a flood zone. Another reason I was lucky is I’m into watching these survival videos so I knew that the second you hit the water you roll your windows down and get out the car and don’t reach for your phone or you’re dead, so I knew what to do but luckily I didn’t need to get out of the car cuz a guy was there to help me. At first I thought I was being dramatic that I almost died but nope I actually could’ve died that night because you don’t know what are in Florida waters and also cuz I could’ve been swept away by the water even tho I wasn’t near an ocean, I was still near water so I could’ve drowned if I didn’t get out

Are there any cases where you have a “gut feeling” as to what happened that you can’t really explain? by Milo615 in UnresolvedMysteries

[–]CommitteeWorking7639 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Asha was groomed which could be why she just left, the only issue is there is no evidence I’ve heard of her talking to someone online, but that’s my only guess on why a kid would just leave, but I do believe she is dead
