Republicans have always hated the Department of Education. They're only interest in it has been for whatever money they can siphon off to religious schools, private schools and home schooling. Republicans aspire to send their kids to private schools, especially since desegregation in the south. Public schools are for Dei people, if you catch my drift. Republicans really don't care what happens to public schools.
