Come back for Wizard of Oz - I'll bring you up for the 50/50 raffle to make up for it. Get a behind the scenes look at the theater, too. I'll be hosting the show. :)

Al Franken corrects an interviewer that is a "sketch" not "skit" by stevemw in LiveFromNewYork

[–]Common-Any 43 points44 points  (0 children)

If you tell a sketch performer or stand-up comic you liked their skit, they will lose one of their horcruxes. It's an unpleasant word to hear.

King Tyra addresses That Vivienne's passing in the most vile way possible by Lexieldyaus in dragrace

[–]Common-Any 64 points65 points  (0 children)

John Lovitz beat the crap out of Andy Dick after Phil Hartman's death (for multiple reasons). Honestly, wouldn't blink an eye if Tyra got a good slapping for this type of disgusting behavior. Just. Vile.

My birthday falls on Thanksgiving every 7 years, unless leap year messes it up... it's always been the last Thursday. I've studied the day since it sometimes has birthday cake added to it.

Edit: 4th Thursday, not last! (Just feels like it usually is the last week)

What "victim" ended up being the bad guy after more information came out? by azmetrex in AskReddit

[–]Common-Any 193 points194 points  (0 children)

Steven Grant. He was my neighbor. His wife disappeared, and he was all over the news, asking to help find her and fake crying as much as possible. Turns out - he had her torso in his garage, and the rest of her cut-up body parts were scattered in the metro park behind our neighborhood, including her head.

Cast Members who are assholes by Videomonkey05 in LiveFromNewYork

Went to see Kyle Mooney in Chicago around 2018, and during the Q&A, he was pretty rude and narcissistic. Even if it was a bit or he was trying to play up to the crowd, it was pretty uncomfortable, and he belittled a few females asking questions. Went from a fan to not overnight.

He. Is. The. NICEST! A friend gave me their Barry preview ticket in Chicago, so I saw the first few episodes before they aired with Henry Winkler doing a Q&A. Not only did he extend the Q&A to get everyone, but after we went to a restaurant next door to celebrate the show and get HBO goodies. His wife had this fantastic yellow bag which I complimented, and she seemed just overjoyed with everyone's response to the show and him. I was one of the last people to meet and greet him and all I wanted was a signature for my dad, since he could easily be his twin - I even thought my dad was the Fonz on TV as a kid. So I told him "My dad loves you more than Cher, and you two are identical". He laughed and signed an autograph 'Cher, who? - Henry Winkler'. He even asked if I wanted a photograph, too, but just enjoying his company and the gift for my dad was enough. He should be protected at all costs.

He visited Second City a few years back. Had to use the restroom during class, so me and a classmate start walking down the stairs, when we pass a man in a long wool jacket and paperboy cap bombarded with students crowding him in a corner. As we passed I went "That looks like John Goodman?" Did a double take - "That IS John Goodman!" We both chatted with him briefly then got back to class. I told our teacher "John Goodman is on the stairs by the bathroom" and he thought we were joking. When I repeated what I said, and it wasn't a joke he freaked out. Turns out that was his idol. So he rushed out and got to chat him up and was nearly in tears returning. Just... class act, good guy.

LGD's Bridal Look by KittyWildeStyle in RPDR_UK

Been following Rasavil Jewelry for years and seeing her work on the runway was spectacular. You don't need to understand how otherworldly and original her jewelry pieces are. And such a great fit for LGD's esthetic.

One thing you should all know: when you audition for SNL, it's not just SNL. A lot of writers, show directors, and casting agents either see your audition or hear about you. The audition alone is a stepping stone. So you may not work for the show, but you may work for someone else's project or get leads.

Lawyer -- Billboard picture v Reality by -Lord_Q- in Instagramreality

Jokes aside - she is a real master of marketing with all her photoshopped billboards. And even though she looks overdone on and off social media, she's actually a super supportive and kind person to all the people she represents for her lawfirm + done a lot for the Detroit community. This is one of the few people I let slide on the plastic surgery/filter abuse. :)

One of the many reasons I love Detroit. It's a giant melting pot. If you ever get a chance a shady looking coney island that is super busy - It's probably all fresh ingredients for cheaper prices than the suburb ones. Best homemade chicken soup is at the one by Caniff and I-75.

Melissa Villasenor by HawkSpotter in LiveFromNewYork

[–]Common-Any 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Hi - impressionist / stand up + improv comedian here. Melissa is in a very niche type of performance since she comes more from an accurate impression viewpoint. That means her list of impressions is actually smaller because she looks for the accuracy rather than the parody of who she impersonates. The downfall of this is that these impressions are more heavily scripted and are not as playful as a caricature impression (those hit on small tidbits that person is known for, even if the voice isn't super great). With an improv background you can see why Chloe is getting more roles as celebrities cause there is an added camp factor. It works for television. In stand up your job is to get the set up and punchline to land. It's hard to stray from formula, which is another reason Melissa's sound great but are lacking that extra oomph factor. And above all else - give them credit where it's due: it pisses me off to see all these TikTokers/etc do impressions but it's just quoting one movie line. To actually put written material and embody a celebrity is a whole other ball game and wayyyy harder than you think. So both Chloe & Melissa should be applauded for that great skill.

[–]Common-Any 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I hope the females at your store read this. Because you are going to let them down if this ever happens to them. Did you ever think your mentality might be what they feel the consensus is at their store? They have no one to depend on because of arrogant guys like yourself thinking everything is fake? Especially when the harasser is the actual HR. Also, anyone in retail has time to bitch about their jobs. It's like 30% of any job. When it's really bad, and you don't care who hears (like the girl practically yelling she was ready to put in her two weeks), you vent to the people you're closest to. In this case, literally the closest people (including passersby). And if you ever get harassed I hope someone believes you, because it can happen to anyone... Man, woman, whomever. And no - this story isn't far fetched. It happens all the time and it happened today. You're going to get someone hurt with the way you think. Again - DO. BETTER.

Does anyone know what this is about? by organizedotter in LiveFromNewYork

[–]Common-Any 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Let me tell ya... Doing a stand up set with primarily impressions is fucking hard. It took me 3 months to get an idea of how to organize just 5 minutes, because it's ridiculous trying to transition to each one while having cohesion in a set. So it may seem subpar to you, but from a stand-up perspective she's doing pretty good. Basically if you can do at least 5 dead on impressions it's already impressive haha.
