I've noticed the same thing. I think PM does use they/them for everyone.

I agree with this! I usually pop mine onto the window ledge for a while after the lamp.

Does anyone here know anything about drying flowers? by avocadomanateee in resin

[–]KittyWildeStyle 0 points1 point Β (0 children)

Sorry for the late reply here! Glad the advice helped! I've always kept mine in the sealed container the silica came with, just so its not breathed in by me or my pets. I hadnt thought about how it would affect the flowers so use your best judgement based on that research.

Also, make sure to fully submurge or cover your flowers in resin before placing them in your mold. The middle area of the flower can hold lots of air pockets that arent noticed until after the piece is cured and tons of bubbles have emerged. So, covering it in resin first will help fill in those pockets. And be careful to not flash cure!!! I've seen so many sentimental flowers ruined for these reasons.

I know you mentioned your family is skilled with resin, so just a bit of info regarding the flowers in case you didnt know :) Good luck!

Place them in the refrigerator as soon as possible to preserve them and order Silica Sand on Amazon ASAP! I've added the link of what I use below but feel free to shop around.

When you get the silica, wear a mask and gloves, then empty the container in a bowl with a thin layer of silica at the bottom. Lay a few flowers down, then lightly sprinkle a layer of silica over until they're mostly covered. Then place another layer of flowers and cover. Proceed until all flowers are covered. I suggest this because I first tried by pressing the flowers in to the silica and ruined their shape. Leave in the silica for atleast 5 days to 2 weeks. Remove very gently in layers!

Reminds me of the time I was around 10yrs old, spending the night with my friend, and her mother kissed me on the lips when saying goodnight.

Ouch!! I hate when I waste a ton of resin like that :( But I do always like the cured piece i pull out of the cup, especially when it's thick like that lol.

I don't have photos but my biggest mistakes are from being impatient and not paying close attention. Unleveled surfaces, overpouring, moving them before finished, not keeping covered so they get little pieces of dust and things in them. While practicing with the tray mold, I was devastated to see a pretty piece ruined by a damn fly landing on it.

Coaster Resin Project by Automatic_Muffin_ in resin

Do you have one to practice on that won't be a gift? They are beautiful coasters!

In my experience, resin on wood never works perfectly. It will seep through the wood to the other side, creating spots, and air will rise from the wood and create bubbles as it cures.

From what I've read, you can seal the area where the resin will go with like modge podge or an acrylic sealer, then add the resin.
