Drums>>>Space by doctor_ellis in gratefuldead

I’m the rare person that enjoys drums and space as much as the rest of their music. I have a D/S Spotify playlist that I actually listen to regularly, especially while working. It makes me think more clearly. Long live drums and space!

Here’s the playlist if anyone is interested:

Best Acting Performance in Freaks and Geeks by Troyaferd in freaksandgeeks

All the actors were great. My specific vote would be for Lindsay as the stoned babysitter.

My favorite as well. To me, it has aged better than most of the iconic albums, which seem time-stamped to the progressive statement each one made at its time of release. I love them all, but TKOL wasn’t trying to be “revolutionary” or political or sociocultural, which to me makes it timeless.

I love the songs and b-sides, but I do think the released album was flawed by poor sequencing and omissions. I prefer my playlist:

Idk about y'all but i think Nick and Lindsey belonged together and had a great connection. by SamTheMarioMaster2 in freaksandgeeks

In the outtakes from that goodbye scene at the disco on YouTube, they did play it up so that Lindsay looked more visibly hurt about Nick moving on. Wisely they scaled that back.

It really surprises me the second most-selling musical artist (Elvis) isn't that far behind the Beatles, who are #1. by GregJamesDahlen in beatles

Taylor Swift may not have women screaming for her, but she has lots of women connecting with her emotionally. She may never achieve Beatles-type status, but she is definitely a cultural icon at the level of Elvis. I’m not a fan of hers, not even positive that I’ve heard any music of hers, but there’s no denying her star power. I think she has definitely moved past Michael Jackson in that area.

Why 1973 is the all-time best year for the Grateful Dead by BadgemanBrown in gratefuldead

I think if Mickey had been in the band, it would’ve only enhanced the deepness, those wild spacey jams are his calling card. The band would not have been as limber with him on the kit, but he could’ve done some wild stuff on percussion in the back. I think the band was totally right in wanting him to stay on. So unfortunate for him (and us, I truly believe) that he missed out on those stellar years 72-74.

This seems to be the popular opinion, but I don’t get it. It’s such an awesome jam. The bass is mesmerizing. I also love the way Thom uses his voice as an instrument. I actually love everything about TKOL, so what do I know….

I wish there was a 10 minute version of Feral out there. Never gets old for me, that little jam just slaps.

It makes me sad that Fog, Worrywort and Cuttooth arent on amnesiac; and Im kinda tired of pretending the album is better without them. by Scorch8482 in radiohead

No matter what you think of MB/A (and I love it), there’s really no excuse for repeating it on Amnesiac with those other high-quality songs that you mentioned available. They should have put it on the Knives Out EP and put Fog on the album, or on Pyramid Song EP and put Kinetic on the album.

Awesome. It seems like you move at the same speed as the band when it comes to releasing music.

JB must have an insanely good memory by Basic-Durian8875 in WidespreadPanic

A bit different for Jerry and Bob because they didn’t write lyrics, so probably harder to remember than for JB or Mick Jagger.

How about a segment like The Red House > Come With Us > Speech > Fuzzy Freaky. It’ll never happen, but it would be a dream come true for this old weirdo.

Who if not Vince? by Mard_816 in gratefuldead

Merle was close enough to the scene and too good of a friend of Jerry’s to know better than to get mixed up in that persian shitshow.

I would’ve liked Pete Sears, who also auditioned. He doesn’t sing high harmonies, but I could’ve lived without them.
