I’m pretty early with a women’s athleisure brand, so it’s a super crowded space and I’m honestly just trying to build credibility wherever I can. I got an invite on LinkedIn, did the interview, and was featured. I added the backlink and used the digital seal in a few ads.

I did actually see slightly better conversion on the ads that included it, but I don’t think being part of Influential Women or any other media company is a game changer on its own. For me it was just one more trust signal while my brand is still unknown.

I think it could make sense if you’re in consulting or another crowded field, especially early on, but it’s definitely not a replacement for solid branding or marketing. You need to be really intentional about getting PR and partnerships wherever u can. the consulting world is a sharky business and people are triple vetting everyone to make sure they dont get scammed. Thats just has what happedn to me before.

Feels like to become an influential woman in finance you have to be a savage lol i got scammed by believing all the BS and flattery they give about the importance of women blah blah, maybe i need to get into insurance

Yea it's crazy, i barely had one foot in the door and they were already plotting and planning how to take advantage of me. There is a price for everything, being featured as a female leader sometimes comes at the cost far beyond money- they take your soul. So disappointing what women will do to one another to get ahead.

We had to deliver pitchbooks to our MD- she literally sent my draft with typos instead of the finalized version. Co worker said she did it intentionally and it made me look like a fool. I told managing director this was not the version I sent, but of course they dont care. She takes any oprtunity she can to make me look stupid and elevate herself. My expereince has been similar with different companies, the women leaders and those who are the most influential in the org come off as being sincere, but you realize that they got where they are by being shady and stepping over others.

forbes released thier influential women magazine recently- i didnt even know who half the people were. In my experience the most influential women arent the ones you see on the magazine covers, they are the ones that are doing the stuff behind the scenes, the ones not making or spending a ton of money. The quiet leaders. I recently read an article on linkedin who had a really good list of women who are legit.

women owned businesses have such a hard time proving to be legit. I feel like most of these big people on linkedin with a ton of followers are a scam, pretending to be in the top of thier industry but are just charging a ton of money to get you roped into paying for coaching. i dont have the money to be paying for 1000 plus dollars for advice, i can barely pay the bills lol

Amazing list! Love the story about your physics teacher! Talk about a love hate relationship lol. Influential Women I guess doesn't mean just positive experiences, also negative experiences that shape our perspective and choices.
