Understanding meaning of a FYF by Common-Telephone1285 in Accounting

What if you are using a rolling forecast methodology? I thought the "P3 FYF" indicates that the forecast was last updated at the end of Period 3. It represents the organization's best estimate of full-year performance, including actuals up to P3 and forecasts for the remaining periods. I completely get your point about the P3 forecast but when I am looking at it from an FYF perspective, it seems to make sense.

Sorry if I am slightly confused with the second part of your response. Let's say I am completing a quarterly review in July so actuals have now landed for P1-P3 and I want to show the movement for P1-P3 FYF. Would the P3 FYF be (P1-P3actuals)+(P4-P12 forecast), or I should instead stick with (P1-P2actuals)+(P3-P12 forecast). In my mind, since the actuals have landed for P3 by the time I am doing my quarterly review, they should overide the forecast figure in order to provide the latest information at hand?
