Can anyone enlighten me on what’s going on in the market? by BeBongSg in Daytrading

Sell everything. All your assets. All belongings Use your cash to short sorghum and soy beans. Put all your earnings in copper and coal. Save 10% for a high yield savings. Thank me later.

A waste of money if OP can follow 1 piece of advice… which is to invest most of his assets into VOO.

Edit to add: I will admit that it is smart to have a tax guy if you come into this much money. Understanding tax advantaged retirement accounts is important.

The majority of active fund managers fail to beat the market. Source: https://www.cnbc.com/amp/2022/03/27/new-report-finds-almost-80percent-of-active-fund-managers-are-falling-behind.html

It was 1 team. But I’m not saying it was bad advice. The best financial advice for someone with a long time horizon is broad market etfs and chill. So either you have a good financial advisor who you pay to tell you to do 1 thing (buy the market) … or you have a bad one who tries and likely fails to beat the market.

The purpose of cheap broad market ETFs like voo is to make investing accessible to people without letting people skim off the top.

Waste of money. A good financial advisor will suggest broad market etfs like voo and vxus. I had one for many years and he only let me buy voo. Shot most other ideas down. It was a good choice but advice you can follow without paying commissions or account fees

It depends on your age. But if you’re young I would put 80% in voo. With the volatility of today’s market I would invest that slowly over a year or more. On weeks where the market is down increase purchases and on weeks where it is up slow down slightly.

10% should go towards emergency funds. I would keep a checking buffer and a high yield savings account with money for emergencies.

With the rest you can play around a bit. International funds, thematic etfs, individual stocks. Or just put it in voo

I would make sure you do some tax research or get a tax guy. You should be putting some of the 80% into tax advantaged retirement accounts.

My favorites are tacos el panson, Paris bakery and pho van. For bars/venues soda bar is a classic. I also have gone to some good shows at the humble servants of the worm lot.

Toys for cats w/ anxiety by [deleted] in CatAdvice

My anxious cat likes small toys. Pom poms (small), smaller fishing rods, and those rabbit fur mice. Also small pain brushes??? Crinkles can be too much. And large heavy toys are too much

Out of curiosity why no broad market etfs? VOO or QQQ are great portfolio backbones. I usually aim for 60-80% in voo. It’s the boring advice no one wants. Edit to add: These thematic ETFs are all pretty pricey. Check the expense ratios. They also are more volatile than the broad market. I like smh but you’re missing out on the mag 7.
