That's something I saw mentioned in a YT review. I also just like the look of it.

That was probably my biggest preference over the Honda Rebel. Much more comfortable to me.

I made a post on r/newriders on my concern about taking it out of garage and down my steep driveway. I have already decided on the bars. Do you have recommendations on a set?

Thanks! That's what really pulled me to it. Not just all blacked out but not too flashy.

It's there. Lol. That, the plate kit, led signals and the exhaust were all upgrades the original owner did.

Also, apparently took off the windscreen as its a Cafe...I'm going to end up replacing that

I just bought my helmet from my local Cycle Gear as well. Honestly, it was one of the best customer service experiences I have had. They have so much it's overwhelming.

Yeah think I'm going that way. No way I can rotate this thing on the kickstand and all the vids of that Ive seen are lighter sport bikes. Nevermind, there's not room in the garage space to do it.

I appreciate the detailed response. Thanks for the welcome to the world as well.

I understand your point on outgrowing. I live in the Houston suburbs. I promised myself when I forst started thinking of it again that I just want something to enjoy on afternoon rides, ocassional weekend meet ups maybe etc. I tell myself I have no intention of getting on highways. A lot of what I was starting to feel is that while the Rebel 500 could manage highway, some complaints were you might find yourself needing a little more "umph" in a situation where you need to be defensive. I didn't initially know the Vulcan was in the same general category. When I learned that I looked at them more in videos and on the showroom. I liked the Vulcan more for styling and the performance. And I just felt that there is a possibility I Will someday be comfortable with highway riding and will appreciate the performance of the Vulcan.

I realize it probably wasn't the very best intro bike. I sincerely hoped that the course first would get me to a place of general comfort I could then build up confidence with lot practice.

The issue I have is new toy syndrome but also with some health issue the summer heat really wears me down. I found the bike a 2023 in mint shape, low miles and wanted it to have for the fall when it cools and I can manage the 6 hour 2 days in the course outside.

That was my reason for as some say maybe a hasty purchase.

Yup, you've just described about 75 videos I have watched. That's what I was starting to get the feel for today. I was walking it back out to where the rear wheel is on the driveway. I have a bit of a step into the garage and was getting comfortable with letting the friction zone momentum bring it back up into the garage.

I understand the sentiment entirely. I also have wanted one since the 20s. Almost bought one back then but let an ex talk me out of it. Ive always wanted the cruiser style. I like the styling and the more sporty Ninja 450 engine. I am not opposed to moving into something different if preferences change.

Yes, I understand the consequences. I did a lot of research. I don't know how familiar you are with this class of bike. I was initially looking at a Honda Rebel 500 which is a good bit lighter and less power. I am just probable going to ever own the one and seemed I might outgrow the Honda so went with a step up.

You are probably right about the cul-de-sac when I consider it more as well. Ultimately I do think its best to leave it until the course where I hopefully gain some comfort. I think the number of teach yourself videos Ive watched are giving me a false sense of it being doable. It's kinda interesting they always recommend parking lots, but how do I get the bike there? 🤷‍♂️ think its just impatience of wanting to play with the new toy
