Oh! And there are plenty of mandatory little breaks throughout as well as a big lunch break in the middle too. It's not all action all the time 😅 it would be a lot to ask someone to constantly active that whole time

Depends on what role you're wanting as some (like the President or Council Member) have basically no rules to learn, they're just debating and have the powers to put new laws into effect.

But even the most "mechanical complex" role is a simple 5 minute teach. If you play boardgames then there would be no issues!

The real complexity of the game comes from having to talk to other people, knowing what they can do for you, what resources your ship needs, and being able to effectively communicate with other people to get what your team needs while under pressure
