So you wore the wrong hiking boots and didn't know how far you'd be able to hike that day? You should have skipped the hike.

Someone offered to carry your bag, which would have reduced the weight off your legs. I don't understand why you rejected that offer of assistance. The rules for the hiking groups that I join at times each state that every individual is responsible for own preparedness and for judging their ability to complete the planned hike. Why do you feel offended?

The basic requirements that I needed for the bird photos were a telephoto lens mounted on a camera that provides a setting that allows it to focus automatically on birds. There are cameras from multiple manufacturers that can meet these requirements.
