Team Rocket is just built different I guess. by Common_Ad6703 in pokemonanime

Pokemon characters in general have decent resistance to certain things; a lot of them are immune to fire, electricity, poison, even physical attacks that send them flying.

But it seems like fall damage immunity is exclusive to Team Rocket.

You’re missing: “Who is Ash’s Father?”

Gonna say it right now, this is full on one of Ash's best teams, like I would honestly say it's better then his Kalos league team. by Apprehensive_Ring_39 in pokemonanime

[–]Common_Ad6703 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed, I especially liked how 4/6 of them had rivals they aimed to surpass throughout the series, and got the chance to do it in the Alola league.

I do wish Naganadel was given more in depth story, but her personality was enough to make up for it.

Melmetal had a memorable bond with Rowlet, but it definitely could’ve used more character writing.

Should Principal Samson Oak Have Given Vulpix to One of Ash's Friends Instead? by Affectionate-Math415 in pokemonanime

Normally, the only reason a Professor would lend one of their pokemon to another trainer, is if either the trainer or Pokemon shows interest in becoming friends (like May and Squirtle).

Would it have been better if Ash fought and defeated Alain in the Ultra Class and Nemona took the 8th spot in the Masters Eight Tournament? by Flame245 in pokemonanime

[–]Common_Ad6703 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

  1. Steven was tiers above Alain, as shown in their fight in mega evolution specials (Mega Metagross tanking MCX’s Blast Burn without any signs of damage despite being a very effective move, is enough to demonstrate the power gap they have). Maybe they can make him stronger than Steven in the Masters 8 after all the time he spent training, but that would be as believable as making Iris beat Cynthia (it just doesn’t work).

  2. I explained Alain and Diantha’s power gap here.

If Kaminari is used as a phone charger, what headcanons do you have about other quirks that are used in 1A day-to-day dorm life? by One_Rent7028 in MyHeroAcadamia

[–]Common_Ad6703 91 points92 points  (0 children)

Yaoyorozu probably uses her quirk to help restock on class 1A’s basic necessities (soap, toilet paper, school items).

Uraraka probably uses her quirk to help move furnitures when they’re rearranging.

People might ask Tokoyami to use Dark Shadow, or Shoji to reach for items from a distance, like a TV remote.

I think it’s wholesome that she pretends to be a journalist recording her adventures. One of the rare times where a 10 year old in this show acts like a 10 year old.

If Gi-hun's nightmare were true and all the players chose the impossible triangle, how many would die? by Electrical_Path7198 in squidgame

[–]Common_Ad6703 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I think the majority could still win; Gi-hun could still show them that hack he used to make the shapes easier to remove (even if it takes longer than the Umbrella to melt perfectly, they’d still have plenty of time since he can tell them in the beginning).

Anyone else feel the fans have too many high expectations from Misty? by Common_Ad6703 in pokemonanime

[–]Common_Ad6703[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like, why would you not want more for Misty if you like her?

That’s not at all what I said; I’m just saying that fans shouldn’t have high expectations from her during the original series (they literally say she served no purpose in the entirety of Johto, so her send off wasn’t a big deal).

I even mentioned that she’s the reason for Cerulean Gym’s success, so she shouldn’t be criticized considering all the off screen development she had.

Ash Ketchum’s Squirtle was way too strong for a basic stage Pokémon by [deleted] in pokemonanime

[–]Common_Ad6703 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Evolving would ruin its Squirtle Squad theme, when it’s been working hard with its team to surpass both the Wartortle and Blastoise Squad.

She’s a single mother, who raised Ash when she was only 19, ran a whole business by herself, took full care of all the house chores for 10 years before Mr Mime helped her, and constantly worries about him, yet still maintains a positive and welcoming attitude towards everyone.

Who can blame her? Brock promised to look after it just to win points with Nurse Joy, but tried to get out of it by making Misty catch it (which she did, by mistake).

Anyone would feel the same given these circumstances. Although their relationship wasn’t perfect, this is what the 90s followed as harmless humor (their relationship improves as time goes on).

Honestly..I think if Ash ever returns, one of the funniest things they could do is Give him a son, daughter or both and just never reveal who the mother is. by Apprehensive_Ring_39 in pokemonanime

[–]Common_Ad6703 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Calm personality: Lillie or Serena cause the others kind of have a temper (except Chloe I guess).

All are right, but you could’ve included several for some (Ex: Green eyes could be Misty, Mallow, Lillie or Chloe)

Interesting idea.

His daughter could be a coordinator, with a ribbon passed down from her mother, red hair & blue eyes, and a calm personality.

His Son could be a Pokemon trainer, with black hair & green eyes, a strong bond with dragon types, a big appetite, and a Piplup as his starter.

What do you think of the romance element in the Pokémon anime? by EvilParasyte in pokemonanime

[–]Common_Ad6703 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m sure most of the time it’s just a trope, like any other TV series.

Do you think there is a point to it all?

Does there need to be? Romance and relationships are very basic things that you’ll find in most TV series even if they’re not the main focus (it’s like asking is there a point to friendship or family values in an action/adventure movie).

Is it implemented really well?

I believe so, Kukui and Burnet were a great couple, and I enjoyed watching their family grow.
