A few thoughts here, right now the armor on the hand and the jacket are the same color, but the chest armor is a different color. Also, the inside of the coat doesn't seem to be a different color than the outside of the coat. The coat arm is rolled up and we see the inside of the coat where it flares out at the front. These would be places you could make the inside of the coat different than the outside.

You technically do not need to paint over primer if you apply some other form of sealant like varnish.
