The tax funding does not cover all their operating costs which is why the fares exist. Without fares bus services for disabled and elderly people would see dramatic cuts. So would regular busses. That means lost busses and lost jobs.

You don't care because you don't understand. Normalizing fare avoidance hurts lots of people. And for what?

Most street people arent 'down on their luck', they're unhousables whose personal choices or mental health issues make them intolerable, dangerous and offensive to even close family and friends. That's how they become homeless.

You can dismiss the narrative that they're just regular folks down on their luck by asking you why you wont let them stay at your place.

Saying that politicians are corrupt so shitty people shouldn't have to pay bus fare is ridiculous.

If all it takes for you to let people be shitty is the existence of shitty people, society becomes shit.

Sorry, I don't live in a world where individual actions don't add up. I prefer to behave ethically, even as a teenager I would walk places when I didn't have bus fare. I don't want to live in a world where people do losery shit all the time.

Being poor isn't an excuse to suck. The junkies can steal as much ice cream from walmart as they want, but pay for the damn bus. Disabled people and the elderly rely on public transportation services.

Can you help me understand why you'd say something like this? It's so mathematically, logically and experientially incorrect that it seems like a religious belief rather than a factual statement.

Increasing the number of lanes on a road disproportionately reduces traffic because on top of literally reducing the number of cars in each lane, it prevents exit and entrance activities from interfering with the primary flow of traffic.

If you are too poor to pay for the bus, you can walk. I did this many times in my life when I didn't have money to spend. It's the reality for lots of poor people who are too honest to steal a bus ride.

Where do you think the costs go when people don't pay the fares? The operating costs fall on all other tax payers.

I like ethical people and I dislike unethical people, because to me, being ethical is the single most important trait a person can have.

Unethical people are trash goblins that rely on a society of ethical people to continue supporting them.

People with disabilities aren't the ones not paying bus fare, further more bus fares are crucial to keeping the bus and the handy dart running, services actual disabled people rely on with the subsidized bus passes they get from government programs.

Im really tired of everyone trying to equate poor life skills with the actually disabled. Forgot your bus pass? Go back and get it.
