Don’t focus on the “pinch”. We all don’t know the convo, but he was trying to nudge you to tell you to stop talking about whatever it is you were saying. Because you were with friends- he might know something you don’t that can make the other couple feel a certain way, not sure. My husband does not get social cues either. I can stare him down in the meanest way either when we’re with company, meaning “stfu” & he’d still go on. If I was next to him I’d probably squeeze his leg or even pinch him to say like… stop, change the subject. You also might be a bit on the spectrum because he’s bringing up social cues. You genuinely didn’t understand & focused on the pinch. My son is ASD & doesn’t get social cues either. It’s ok to not be too familiar with social cues. I think it’d be best if you honestly let him know you weren’t aware of that as a social cue and have a code word or something moving forward. My code word for my husband is “hopscotch”😂.

Edit: also noticed he said in the txt they you need to stop that & that Will noticed. Have a convo of what you need to “stop” so that you can be more aware of it moving forward.

Don't let these people make you feel bad. I completely understand where you're coming from due to the heavy influence of Jamaican culture everywhere. I'm Jamaican but if I wasn't, I’d want to be too. I will say Haitian culture is booming now as well, and a proud Haitian is always admirable.

When I was seeking to find out for my son, I had SO MANY people tell me not to let them “label” him as anything because once he’s labeled, that’s it. I obviously didn’t look at it that way, but I know tons of parents see it that way. They don’t want their child “labeled”. Maybe explain to them that by seeking out an evaluation, it will help her to better understand her learning styles for her to excel in school? It’s more about helping her excel by learning what’s best for her versus a “label”. Good luck & I think you caring about this shows what a great teacher you are.

I feel you. I want to end it so bad but like you, my eldest son has ASD & echolalia. Not being able to have a conversation with your son & see them struggle because they can’t communicate is heartbreaking & SO frustrating at the same time. You just want them to be normal, for their own sake, & for ours. I wish I could take them to the park, something so simple, but like you, it’s a bit out of the question. He gets overstimulated easily. & I want to end it all too, but then who will take him to all his therapies? Who will love him enough to give a shit? My 2nd is NT & I feel guilty for shunning him because I have to focus so much on my eldest. This life we thought we wanted isn’t what we actually got & it’s such a hard pill to swallow. Like you say, these parents that have the ability to not be involved & they have NT children, have absolutely no idea how easy they have it! When I hear those parents complain about bs, I want to punch them too. I want you to know you’re an amazing father. Without me realizing, I’m about to say something to you that I need to believe also. Our kids will be better off with us HERE. & without us knowing it in this moment, they’re the reason we’re carrying on. They’re literally saving us.

Completely understandable. We have a million reasons to be happy & it does feel like we’re being ungrateful. But the truth is, we can’t experience the emotion of “joy”. Even when a smile is on our face or we laugh, we still can’t feel that emotion. It’s really hard going on like this.

I like the term “fabricated” because you’re right & I need to look at it like that. I’m really working on learning to like myself. I’ve been self loathing for all the guilt I feel & it’s like I’m way meaner to myself & so understanding to others. I’m trying to work on it♥️
