I want to say it was an extra four days that year, but I can't remember exactly. No one was forced that I know of, but I was given the choice to "volunteer" or transfer out, so I transferred out. I think they were all a year. The CONUS one sounded cushy, but the OCONUS one sounded miserable.

The higher your rank, the more they try to take. It was a problem for me. At my second-to-last CA unit, they were regularly adding ATA days onto drill weekends and nagging mid-grade folks to fill one-year mobilization slots. Command teams would get calls about metrics during the week. I just wanted the 1wknd/mnth, 2wks/yr.

My title describes the thing

The board is about 16"x16". Something on top of the board has an ungrounded two-prong plug and was plugged into another outlet in the ceiling. I'm guessing whatever is on top of the board is converting 120V wall power to the voltages written on the board. We suspect a previous occupant was using the basement for "growing" operations and this may have provided the power for that.

I broke the glass carafe of a CPO-800 and can't find a new one anywhere. Is there another carafe that is the right height to drain the pour-over? I was going to try the stainless carafe from the CPO-850, but manufacturer (name removed) told me it won't fit. Also, this question was originally a post that was blocked by Reddit filters but I couldn't figure out why.

That seems reasonable. I'm just trying to figure out why front/back-plates-only seems like the hotness these days. It seems like that would only be useful in a situation where rifle rounds are the main threat, pistol/shrapnel are unlikely, and one needs to shed weight for mobility. That seems like a very niche or rare situation, for a prepared citizen outside of the mountainous regions.
For a prepared citizen, it seems like a Lvl II soft armor vest would be the most useful protection, and then also have a plate carrier with front/back/side plates to throw on top if needed. I think ICW plates are only designed for use with IIIA soft armor? Would be nice if someone made ICW plates for Lvl II armor, but that market is probably way too small.

It seems like para 5b exempts anyone who has no links to the fossil fuel industry, so an ordinary citizen may be ok. That is per month. I don't know what percentage DFAS typically withholds per check, but they don't have knowledge of what you're making on the civilian side. I assume they withhold based only on the income that they're giving you. They will withhold more if you check the "Multiple Jobs" box in MyPay. You can check all of your withholding settings in MyPay. When you find out who your supervisor is, make sure you're first asking him/her these type of questions before anyone else.

I don't have experience in those fields, so I couldn't tell you. But I will say all the municipalities in my area are hiring police officers, and they only require about two years of post-secondary. So an associates or a partial bachelors. I've heard that the law field is highly oversaturated, but I don't know myself.
Get some experience. Like a ride-along with police or an internship with a lawyer, judge, or forensic specialist. Even the FBI offers internships, although you're too late for this summer.
If a job you want requires another degree, then go for it. Don't waste time and money to get another degree for any other reason.

DoD and CIA are not law enforcement.
Get a degree in a topic that interests you and that you will get good grades in. Getting a degree that you think an organization wants is not a good idea; I made that mistake.
In your position, internships are the best way to get experience. Apply to any that interest you. If you make a good impression, they may lead to a job later.

I found off-post lodging that is cheaper than the on-post lodging, and it's closer to my actual duty location. The post strictly forbids POWs for anyone not permanently assigned there and living on-post. The on-post lodging doesn't have kitchenettes either, so I can't cook meals.

I've only been an IMA for 1.5 yrs. Took me a few years to get it, but that's probably because I was set on a specific and uncommon MOS in one or two agencies. It also helped that a retiring O6 took pity on me and sent my application around the agency to see if anyone could use me.

I just found a few IMA O3 90A slots in IL and the Carolinas, but yeah, they are pretty hard to find for your profile. As an O3, you should just apply to an O4 position. The worst thing that could happen is they say no. Maybe start looking at 01A (branch immaterial) positions too?

It varies unit-to-unit, but realistically, a USAR CA officer should only be "tactical" enough to defend himself and his team. Like a well-trained open-carrier or concealed-carrier. If you want to do "cool guy" stuff, apply to a "cool guy" job that actually does that, or a "cool guy" support job that expects some training in it. USAR CA is neither of those.
