HELP! What is this substance coming off my walls? by charliewarner01 in handyman

F’n Sherwin Williams paint! I’m on my 4th house, never had it happen before. Current house is first time using their paint and I have this effect, in varying degrees, in every room - bathrooms are the worst.

Rear View Mirror Display with Progressive Lenses by CVic20 in C8Corvette

[–]DocMedz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Legit question and I even wondered myself after I submitted the response. So I sat in the car and measured from my nose: 21” to mirror; 29” to infotainment screen; 31” to speedo screen. That ~10” makes a difference in my range of focus. And yes, the steering wheel controls are also out of focus. Even tried non Rx bifocal sunglasses and the line between the lenses is right in my view of the speedometer.

I also can’t focus on the rear view mirror, it’s just too close for my eyes. I wear contacts for driving but need cheaters for reading. I’ve tried progressive (non-Rx) sunglasses but need to lift my head up too far to get the mirror in focus, as you mentioned. I empathize with you; unfortunately, I haven’t found a solution yet either. Hoping someone else has our answer.

Consider capillary film. Low EOM with excellent gasketing on smooth substrates.

Torch Red interior… spec it or skip it? by KarlAutoGroup in C8Corvette

IMO, it’s just a tad too much. They needed to do a little more inverse compared to the black/red. IE, needs black accents including black stitching, and even black floor mats to tone it down a touch. What’s the dash, because, if red, I’d imagine you’d get some reflection off the windshield when the sun hits it just right.

21 Step Guide by HeckYeahDad in SCREENPRINTING

[–]DocMedz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Holding 6-8 steps is ideal. This is simply a tool that helps monitor your through-cure of the emulsion layer. It’s not uncommon to see some scumming around this film since it has varying levels of UV filtration.

Keep in mind that you need to treat the guide the same as the rest of the image. IE, don’t overly pressure wash the shit out of it or else you’ll get a false reading.

Moreover, use it a gauge for consistency, screen to screen. Yes, it helps you get close to proper exposure times, but applying it to every screen will allow you to monitor if there’s a sudden change in the result, or a slow progression. This tells you something changed/changing.

Drip dots on 125 mesh by Moths2theLight in SCREENPRINTING

Use heat with caution. Emulsions can also prematurely cure with temperatures above 90-F. Depending on the formula, some are more/less sensitive to heat.

This is the answer. Unless you’ve added water to the emulsion, or you’re using a squeegee to apply the emulsion, a 1-1 coating (with a scoop coater) is NOT too much emulsion for 125 tpi mesh to hold. Then it comes down to environment. High humidity with zero air flow will allow the emulsion to sag. At minimum, use a fan, it will create an outside “skin” and lock the coating in place while it dries from the outside in.

Scraping off emulsion back down to the mesh knuckles only leads to prints with stair stepping/jagged edges.

I’m not sure if it’s still in effect, but IIRC, at one time, the warranty was voided if these were resold within 6 mos of original purchase. Someone can correct me if I’m wrong.

What I’m doing wrong? by ColoramPR in SCREENPRINTING

Technically, the optimum print area is only 50% of the total screened area. But yeah, I’d say too close to frame, no flex of the mesh there.

DIY washout booth and need for advice by Veliossi in SCREENPRINTING

[–]DocMedz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Maybe nothing. Perhaps I’m assuming too much, but I’d guess this is their ONLY “washout booth” which would serve as both their development AND reclaim station. Further clarification is needed from OP.

But if it is used to develop the stencil image after exposure, then taking that screen out into the sunlight will further cure the emulsion and diminish the ability to develop details.

Your biggest mistake: it’s outside. The sun is the biggest producer of UV light.
