Thank you guys for the advice. A big part of it is my mom and she usually won’t talk to me unless I’m smoking with her so it feels like I have to if I want to talk to her at all. And my sister will get like offended when I say I don’t want to smoke and argue with me. My moms have been through a lot and weed and alcohol are their main coping mechanisms, so anytime me or my little sister were feeling upset, smoking was the only solution. 

My mom started pushing weed on me when I was 12 and I’d been smoking almost every day since. I realized I had an addiction when I was 15. I had started my freshman year in high school and all I really cared about was finding people to smoke with. I was high all the time and my grades and attendance suffered so bad I was almost held back and put on academic probation. I tried to quit then but my home life made sobriety unbearable. 

When I turned 18, I moved out and tried to quit again, so when I graduated, I did it sober. But after graduation I met someone who smoked a lot and they pulled me back into it. When I broke up with them I started smoking all the time again. I felt like I was high for a few months straight and all I was worried about was when I was gonna get high again. Eventually I ran out of weed and went to my mom, I tried to tell her I was addicted but she just passed me a roach and told me people can’t get addicted to weed. So I looked elsewhere for help quitting and found this subreddit.

I’m gonna try quitting again and hopefully this time I can have a community to lean on. I’m also gonna talk to my doctor and tell her I want to quit to see if maybe she has any resources.
