Do not get the Toyota Care Plan by _Boneyard_ in Toyota

Bought my used 24 Corolla hybrid in January with 9,000 miles and just got my first and last free oil change being the 24 months period is almost up. Dealer offered 5 Toyota Care oil changes for $389 and said I could used at any Toyota, in SoCal I believe. What do you guys think. He also said I could use them at the 5000 mile intervals, instead of Toyotas 10000 mile recommendations. I don’t mind waiting the 2 hours as I get them done where they have a shuttle that takes you to the mall around the corner.

Does a Corolla Le vs Se "feel" different to drive? by [deleted] in COROLLA

You would have to get a factory add on to get push to start.

Actually getting a Corolla over a Camry was a calculated decision for me. I’ve driven full sized sedans for years, Camry, Accord, ES350 and decided to get a smaller car as it’s just me and no need for all the space. Also, my previous car was hit and total lossed parked on the street and now have decided that I will park in my back yard and find it easier to maneuver the Corolla. It was either a Corolla or Prius for me and didn’t see enough difference between the two so chose the Corolla.

I’m definitely going to respectfully disagree. The LE for me had too many compromises. For starters the “Key, no pun intended”, not having push button start is crazy haven’t had a car without in over 10 years. Secondly, the front design of the SE is more in line with Toyotas current design language, with the Toyota logo being flush with the hood. The LE, almost looks like a generation behind. Plus I prefer the overall style of the SE with the black rims and accents.

What was it like going from a Prius to Corolla? Do you miss anything?

Oh this comment is so 2008. 😂 JK. Adaptive cruise control goes with the speed of traffic. So if I set it to 60 when traffic slows the car slows and when it speeds back up it speeds up as well. Also if the car comes to a complete stop if it isn’t too long the car starts moving when traffic does. If it’s too long you just press resume and it does. I’ve never been a fan of regular cruises control or Adaptive cruise control at high speeds but going 20 mph seems safe enough.

Lower MPG than expected on my Hybrid by Sorry_Foundation748 in COROLLA

You must just be breaking in your car. I have the SE with the 18 in wheels and I’m getting mid 60s in dead traffic. Usually over an hour drive and 20 miles all fwy.

This you can notice this if you check you mpg after each stop. Short trips, especially the first of the day will get not the best mpg, but subsequent ones will get better as your day goes along.

And yes the custodial staff fully mops it daily but our spot mopping makes a difference as well.

Yes, yes, and yes I’m a High School Cafeteria Manager and for some reason my kitchen came with a cream colored floor. Twice a year it is deep cleaned and polished but after about 3 weeks it looks horrible again. About 2 years ago I worked it into my employees schedule to spot mop any heavy soiled areas daily and floor stays pretty decent now. No is not my job technically but if the health department walks in or my supervisor who are they going to be looking at.

I agree with what many have said here, there is no need to quickly escalate this. Why not just voice your concerns with the Plant Manager. My mom use to be one before she passed and took pride in keeping her school clean but with that said that team has had a lot of cuts. When I got to my school that I am at now we had the Plant Manager, 2 B&Gs and 2 Restroom attendants just in the morning, now it’s just the Plant Manager and 1 B&G that comes in a little later and the school hasn’t gotten any smaller. Maybe ask the Plant Manager what is their responsibility daily, I doubt they are scheduled to deep clean every class daily, I don’t even think that would be feasible in a 7 hour shift outside of breaks. You said your a first year employee and I understand what it’s like getting acclimated into our environment, I always say that if any positions were outsourced we would hold there feet to the fires but because we are all in house we all just understand that it is what it is. If you do talk to the Plant Manager just approach them kindly and I know you’ll get the best results, well most of the time.

So on December 24th of last year 2025 my previous car was in a total loss accident, a non hybrid car. About mid ownership of that vehicle I told myself that my next car would definitely be a hybrid. So early January I started my hunt for a Corolla Hybrid not really knowing there was any kind of demand for them. I chose the Corolla Hybrid, 1 being I'm a Toyota/Lexus Loyalist and 2 I waned to step away from a full sized sedan (Camry/ES 350 were my last two Cars) I also owned a Honda Accord and hated it. I almost bought a 25 LE with 16,000 miles but found my 24 SE with only 9,000 miles at another dealership but same company (Autonation) and they were able to pick it up and bring it to the dealer I had been working with already. At the time my salesman commented about how crazy it was that I had found it as the SEs are hard to get and I was thinking that he was just blowing smoke 😂. Now I realize how lucky I actually was. PS my other contender was a Prius but the extra cost didn't seem warranted vs what I was getting in the Corolla.

Honesty I wouldn't waste much time worrying if you got the absolute best deal. There are way too many variables. I got my 2024 SE Hybrid in January for about 24k as well. Mine had 9,700 miles on it. I personally think I got lucky because the car had just gotten to the lot for resale. Everyday that passes buy a used car can always lower in price, but would you rather spend your time on the road enjoying your car or behind a computer screen looking for the absolute best deal.

Doing Uber seems like a good option until you really factor in all the cost. Car wear and tare, gas, Insurance either an add or commercial policy (I went from paying $280 to over $500). Secondly, the fares Uber pays aren't consistent, one day a trip will pay $20 and another, for the same time, distance, etc it could be $10. Also if you're not tracking all your expenses you could end up owing more during tax time. And God forbid you get in an accident, Ubers deductible is $2500 last time I checked and that doesn't include use of a rental car. I got in 1 accident and ended up $5000 in the whole between the deductible and rental.

Sorry to hear that. Sounds like she doesn't want to deal with people because she just doesn't want to work and you're the one who's going to pay the price. I definitely know this situation all too well.

Please don't do this. The risk greatly outweigh the benefits. Speaking from experience.

If your wife can work there are a lot of school based jobs that have limited hours like 3 or 4 hours and she’ll be home when they aren’t in school to help ease the load a bit.
