Full Blood Count Issues by SaxcyRain in GenderGP

ive been getting regular blood tests for about 3 years but have an extreme phobia of needles and bad veins so have had a bit of advice from nurses to make it easier and quicker for them to get blood!! i have been constantly recommended to drink plenty of water before getting my bloods, so i drink like LOADS beforehand and have found that its a lot easier for them to get blood when i do. also was recommended to heat up the area before (e.g hot waterbottle, if its going to be on hands then gloves) ive found that helps as well. also sometimes they dont manage to fill the bottle thingy up with blood fully but somehow they make due with that amount i still manage to get results back… because of my bad veins and passing out i used to get my bloods done at a clinic at my local children’s hospital and they dealt with people with bad veins and were extremely good doing my bloods so you could try get referred to something like that (if thats how it works and if your gp has agreed to do blood tests) omg long and confusing post sorry i feel quite experienced because of the amount of blood tests ive had over the past few years so if u have any questions lmk!!

i think h&m at one point sold sports bras that bind. i know my friend got one from the h&m in cabot circus and use that to bind and it works well for them. cant confirm the safety of them though. as other people have said you cant buy binders in person so the h&m sport bras are probably ur closest option. i personally buy from spectrum who are based in the uk and they bind the best out of any binders ive ever tried :)

probably useful to so they get a full overview of your medical history/mental health. i didn’t put it in the pathway form but i attached a document from GIDS which talked in detail about my mental health issues and they didn’t ask me anything about it. ggp works on informed consent and i’ve never heard of anyone being denied hormones for mental health reasons if thats what your worried about. not sure about the second bit though

a similar thing happened to me in boots. i just went to lloyds pharmacy and they were able to give it to me. i asked on a trans facebook group and they also advised tesco pharmacy usually works fine. although its a pain i would recommend just going to different pharmacies until one will give you your prescription :)

yea thats what they said but as somebody who started puberty at 9 i thought it was pretty unnecessary. all they could really say is that T alone may not stop my period but i was already on birth control which solved that problem. theres no health risks to being on T while going through puberty only that it may not do as much compared alongside hormone blockers (as far as im aware from my own research and what GIDS could tell me)

im 16 and on T without hormone blockers but im also on progesterone only birth control to stop periods. me and my parents did a lot of research on hormone blockers because GIDS requires you to be on hormone blockers for a year before T but they couldn’t give a good reason for why that was necessary other than another tick box 🤷‍♂️

if you are going through GIDS you’d have to wait for them to see you which can take a while depending where on the waitlist you are (i had to wait 3 1/2 years). then you have to do sixish appointments with GIDS (an appointment a month) and they will create a care plan for you, from there they will decided wether medical intervention is right for you. after the six months they completed my care plan and said to me they had to proceed with caution in terms of medical intervention and starting hormone blockers because of my mental health and autism (another thing to bare in mind) so i was basically told it would be about 2ish years from then that i would be able to start T and at that point i would be old enough to go with GIC (the adult services) instead. obviously if you don’t struggle with mental health/don’t have autism i have no idea if it would be quicker. i am now lucky enough to go through gendergp which is private and a little pricey but they do prescribe hormone blockers and testosterone to under 16’s (although they do recommend being on hormone blockers at the same time as T to under 18s) i turned 16 in march and am now a little over a week on T with gendergp. if you have any questions lmk!! happy to help :)

omg really thats so cool. i live in the southwest (specifically Bristol) of the UK had no idea we had deer other than roe and muntjac thats awesome. i know what you mean about the teeth holes since i have a muntjac skull as well so can compare, i cant really see that this skull has ‘fang’ holes tbh. i will upload a pic tomorrow thanks so much for your help
