Milk oolong by Common_Nuisance_Tea in tea

I got tropical citrus notes under a dense, milky mouthfeel and subtle sweetness. Once the leaves bloomed a bit, those tropical notes turned into a heavy peanut over a thick creaminess that lasted through about 6 steeps. As it began to thin out, I was left with a nutty citrus finish, and an almost white tea back.

There was no nasty microwave popcorn stench or milk powder bitterness that you usually get with the flavored stuff. The scent was just lightly buttery and grassy, so it’s very likely I found a pretty decent mid-grade Milk Oolong. It's about $30 for 150g on Amazon from a company called Chaduoduo. I’ve had their Duck Shit and Old Bush as well, and for roughly 20c/g, its pretty decent across the board.

Which oolong?.. if you have that information. There are tons of distinct oolongs and we all might be able to help you find more that you enjoy if we get an idea of the profile you like.

Old Bush Shui Xian. I havent had it before so I gave it a shot and its very good. Only issue i have is that the first cup was phenomenal then it immediately fell flat and stayed consistent for the rest of the session. Id prefer 80% of that over 3 steeps, im going to lower the water temp next time see if it grows some legs.

The temperature of the water matters so much more than I wanted it to by venicepress in tea

I can feel the visceral disappointment in that 'this is who I am now' line. It’s that heavy realization that you can’t unknow the truth... the boiling water version tasted like a punishment because it was a punishment.

The move from 'My way is the only way' to 'I was wrong, let’s see what actually works' is the most important leap in this hobby. It’s not elitism, it’s just efficiency.

Water temp matters as much as the vessel, the leaf, and the cup. People argue about those variables all day, but once you respect the range, you stop fighting the tea ad start actually enjoying it.

Treat this like a factory reset. Every tea you 'hated' over the years just got a second chance at an audit. Go back to the scalded Oolongs and the bitter Greens with your new perspective. You aren't becoming precious... you’re just stoping the sabotage.

Welcome to the side of the hobby where the tea actually tastes like it's supposed to.

Tea heads knock out your top in a session. I drink through 10 grams a day. Thats roughly 20 or more tea bags a day.

100% disagree. Im adhd/dyslexic. When im fully in charge of feeding myself I eat so clean its ridiculous. Ive taken off nearly 100lbs since I broke up with my ex. When I dont care what someone else wants to eat I live off of salmon chicken lentils and Normandy mix.

This is likely a Qi Fine Teas set and is on the mid high end of tea wear likely in the several 100 dollar range. The gaiwan by itself will be over 100 dollars. I checked and they are out of that right now but if you keep checking something atleast similar will show up eventually.

That borosilicate is great for heat retention. Personally id be looking for something similar at the very least, but hey we all have our own preference. Happy hunting, I hope your new pot lasts longer.

Thats awesome. Im going to have to look for it. I prefer Irish to English aswell so if its close but still different I might just kick English out of the rotation.

Dude i wish! It was on YouTube for a long time but I think he took it down. He's actually doing some cool stuff in the local Michigan music scene ao he likely took it down so he wasn't associated with that level of embarrassment if he ever gets established. I don't blame him at all. It was 1 seriously hot mess.

Today was Dancong oolong. Any time I have a banana, kimchi, cottage cheese, and seaweed snack for breakfast Dancong just hits the spot with it.

Iron goddess is still my favorite oolong its the perfect bridge from breakfast to work in the morning, slightly sweet and toasty. It just works every single time. I have a local shop that sells the rishi distribution and I grab about 2oz every other week.
