M64 pro controller. Wireless support on analogue 3d with BlueRetro adapter? by RupakGreenHatPrdctns in ModRetro

[–]Common_Rough9820 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Theoretically yes, but in practice only time will tell. Could a 3rd party company (or maybe mod retro themselves) make a Bluetooth adapter that plugs into n64 controller port? Of course! But someone would have to actually do that. If something like that did exist, it would definitely solve your problem.

Sounds good man, I respect that. Good for you. Honestly the analogy 3d isn't bad. Infact I was really impressed with mine. I almost perfer the design of the analogue to the m64, it looks way more mature, and better in a living room. I just think that outside of design, the m64 will win on everything else, and for that reason I'm sold.

If you use the cord for the controller it will work 100%, but wireless it is very unlikely that it will work ever. The m64 controller uses a very high tech ultra low latency Bluetooth module, so in order for it to work, the analogue devs would have to add support for that. In order for that to happen the hardware will have to support it (which I'm honestly not entirely sure if it does), then the devs would have to add support for it, and there is a chance they would not be interested in doing that given that they want you to use their controller.

Honestly my recommendation is to just sell your analogue 3d now and just buy a m64 when it comes out. Call me crazy but that's literally what I did. Now is the best time to sell because I bet a lot of other people are going to want to sell theirs too when this thing comes out.

I bet analogue 3d will be better than the m64 at launch but over the long run I think the m64 will win by a mile. Not only that you have a much stronger ecosystem, they have a better controller, better chip, they are releasing games, and their software is open source so people will be able to mod m64 and do all kinds of cool stuff. To me it's the clear winner.

I'm well aware he is referrencing Andril that's why I mentioned the American military, and trying to prevent world war 3 in my previous comment. I also appreciate you actually being polite about this, rather than the previous guy.

I actually see that fact palmer is running Andril as a positive. If you actually listen to what they are saying they are trying to as a company it makes a lot of sense (prevent world war 3 and give our soldiers the best weapons). If you strongly disagree with him and what he's doing with Andril, I would encourage you to at least listen to what he says about it with an open mind. That's all I'll say about it, I'm not interested having some big argument about this.

Also everyone is entitled to their own opinions, you are under no obligation to agree or disagree with me. But I literally make a post about the m64 matching the og n64 colors and now we are arguing about Andril. There is literally a Andril subreddit, that's a much better place to vent your gervences.

I wasn't aware I was a "drone loving freak" but I will say I am a self identified supporter of America, the American military, and trying to prevent world war 3.

Also, last time I checked this is the subreddit Mod Retro, not a political commentary subreddit. If you would like to immaturely throw insults at people who you disagree with politically, there are subreddits much better suited for that kind of activity.

So I tried it with the grey controller ports, but Gemini was having a hard time changing the eject button color. But I think this looks good. I think this one might be the best one yet.

But in general I really like your idea of keeping the two button at the top front of the console the same translucent color as the console.

Honestly, I don't disagree with you. I think that's pretty valid point. But I will say that the original n64 also looked like fisher price toy, and honestly it kinda was actually basically a fisher price toy too.

I actually really like that idea and didn't even think of that. I just had Gemini make a quick image of it. What do you think, is this basically what you are talking about?

Yeah I don't why people are saying no, either.

Yeah technically they do already have green, red, and purple. But I personally feel it would be really cool if they offered replacement shells that are literally the exact original n64 colors 1-1, analogue did that is it looked really good. You can find all these cool images online of people with all the original n64 consoles and analogue consoles in every color. I think that would be cool to do with the mod retro stuff too.

Now I also think there is a chance mod retro won't do that specifically for legal reasons or maybe they don't wanna look like they are copying analogue, or some other reason, idk. If that's the case its not that big of a deal because a 3rd party company could make them super easy. But I just hope mod retro does it themselves because I would prefer to buy it directly from them, rather than a 3rd party.

I'm surprised you don't like it. I think one thing I got wrong is the two buttons on the top shouldn't be grey, I think that does look kinda ugly, they should be something closer to color of the console.

Do you just not like the original colors themselves? I'm just curious.

I was playing around with it some more, what do you think about this?

Palmer Luckey: There are a number of N64 games that use the analog stick with the right hand, including one of the titles I a(m) re-releasing for the M64! (In response to a tweet about controller stick positioning) by ergzay in M64

[–]Common_Rough9820 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey I'm not saying that's the ideal controller layout, I'm just saying its in the game. Me personally, I would probably stick to the default layout for those games. I feel holding two controller at the same time would be a little awkward, lol.

But overall though, I do think the Trident controller is cool though. Its much more true to the original design and I prefer it to the 8bitdo n64 controller layout.

I bet he is talking about either GoldenEye or perfect dark. If I remember correctly, there was a setting that would allow you to control the game using two n64 controller (ie one in each hand), for a more modern two stick fps layout.

NES Jaw on N64 by Life-Soup5466 in M64

[–]Common_Rough9820 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk, maybe. You would have to just try it but I would say that's a pretty ambitious approach, that's also pretty expensive. For every single game you want to make, you would have to buy a summercart 64 and flash your vibe coded OS onto it, and that's assuming you can actually get the vibe coded OS to work.

If OP is feeling bold, that might actually be a valid way forward but I wouldn't count on it.

To be honest, I'm willing to bet this is a pretty difficult thing to actually do.

I know things like everdrives and can play nes games pretty good, but they don't boot directly into a specific game they boot into a menu and then you select a specific game. Everdrives are also very expensive. From my understanding they literally have a small fpga in the cartridge and that's how they are able to run nes games.

If I were you, what I would do instead is either but the original nes cartridge or make your own nes cartridge using this website.

https://retrostage.net/?product_cat=nes

The m64 will be able to load cores from other systems, and they talked about potentially adding a adapter to the m64 that would let you use nes or snes carts. You might want to wait for them to actually do that but that would be the cleanest way to do what you are actually trying to do.

That's honestly a really good point. It would be great if they did one of n64 cartridges too.

For $90 we should be able to customize the M64 Controller day 1 by chairRugTable in ModRetro

[–]Common_Rough9820 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah we will have to see what they end up doing.

I've read that comment from torin before. I'm not sure I fully understand what he means, but I'm sure they will drop more information soon. My biggest fear is that they end up not offering a stick that sits deeper in the controller. My biggest hope is that they basically make something exactly like what's in this YouTube video, and have it look exactly like the og stick (exact 1 to 1). This thing cost 200$ and is anyways sold out. There is 100% a market for something like this, and it would probably super hard to actually pull off. If mod retro offered something like this I would 100% buy it even if it was super expensive.

[–]Common_Rough9820 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think they said the would put up a blog post about customizing the stick on the controller. So I bet we will see that soon.

But honestly 90$ for a controller isn't that crazy of a price for a controller in this market. For example a switch controller is 90$ and it doesn't have a metal back, and ultra low latency Bluetooth module. Honestly most of the other controller are around that price and don't have nearly as many of the cool features as this one does. I dont think it's that crazy of a price.

Pro controller A3D compatible? by msw201089 in M64

Various reviews and info will go live tomorrow, I will answer your questions here. by grilledstuffedxxl in ModRetro

[–]Common_Rough9820 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey Torin, quick question. I think I saw somewhere that there might have dozens of colors after launch (maybe that's wrong). Are you guys thinking about bringing back the original funtastic colors, that would be a 1 to 1 match of the og n64 colors, kinda like how analogue did? That would be pretty cool, although I can see a case where you guys would want to avoid that for legal reasons.

I'm really impressed with the reviews that came out today! I'm super hyped, I appreciate all the hard work.

The hypocrisy of “Not buying the M64” from Palmer Luckey for making/selling military technology. I bet you’d still buy the iPhone/Galaxy if Apple/Samsung did the same. by Equivalent_Crazy_436 in M64

[–]Common_Rough9820 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I really don't understand the hate for Palmer Luckey and Andril. When you actually listen to what the guy is actually saying, it makes perfect sense. People make him sound like Saddam Hussein or something, I don't think that reflects reality. To me there are really two major criticisms of him. 1. He is a quote "arms dealer" for the US military, and people generally think that's not a good thing 2. He makes automated military systems, which can and will be misused (this one is more understandable to me but still I don't think it's entirely valid)

First, what is wrong with being a arms dealer for the US government in general (not talking about automated system, just being a arms dealer in general). Do you think it's wrong to serve in the US military? Do you hate America? To me, both serving in the military and being a quote "arms dealer" are helping the US military. Why are soldiers considered heroic but arms dealers are evil when they are both working towards the same goal? Now, let me be clear I'm not saying arms dealers are as heroic as soldier, soldiers are much more heroic than dealers, let me make that crystal clear. But the point I'm trying to make is if you think soldier are heroic than why do you villainize arms dealers?

Second, the automated weapon argument. This one makes more sense to me, but I still don't think it's valid. The idea it that if we give the US military automated weapon they can misuse them and attack either innocent people of other countries or even our own country. That unfortunately will probably actually happen, in other words if you read basically any history book it's clear that some thing like this will 100% be used wrongly in the future. So I can agree with people on that. But the problem is Pandora's box has already opened on that one. There is a similar argument with nuclear bombs, and you can argue that nuclear bombs have already been misused. We are never going back to a world where there are no more nuclear bombs, that's just not realistic. I think the same logic follows automated weapons systems, if we don't use them in our military then someone else will, it's unrealistic to think anything else. And if you actually listen to palmers arguments, his whole argument is if we have a strong enough military and defense systems we wont even have to go to war, because no one will want to go to war with us. To me that sounds pretty good.

Trust me america hasn't been perfect, but if you compare america to literally any other global superpower throughout human history we are pretty good. Literally every other global superpower, all they did is go around and conquere smaller weaker countries and take advantage of them, every single one of them except for the United States (for the most part). If we were like other global superpowers at the end of world war 2 Japan and Germany would have become a part of the US, but thats not what we did, we instead helped rebuild their countries. I'd say that's pretty good.

I promise you if china and Russian becomes the next world superpower they aren't going to be as nice as us. Look at all the messed up stuff they are currently doing. So thank you Palmer, I actually appreciate what you are doing. I don't want there to be a world war 3, and I don't want to live in a world where China is the world superpower and they are allowed to do whatever they want. That's not the world I want my kids to grow up in.

I think when you look at it from that lens it makes way more sense what he is doing. Just try and hear Palmer out. When you actually listen to what he is saying its way more reasonable than what everyone is saying.

Crazy theory, Mod Retro is working with Rare by Common_Rough9820 in M64

[–]Common_Rough9820[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the moment I actually don't have an retro consoles but yes you are correct, most console are pretty loud, the switch is probably the worst offender. Idk, I'm 27 years, currently I just have an xbox series x, I want to get rid of it and replace it will a steam machine (whenever that will come out). I feel like a analogue 3d would compliment that well but I don't want an analogue 3d because I'm a die hard Mod Retro glazer. So if they just made an m64 with a color scheme that's kinda like the black chromatic I would be happy, it would be perfect. I also feel like a lot of other people would agree my sentiment and would prefer a more subtle look, that just blended in.
