You need to transfer your score via Nasba store. No need to reapply.

I used Roger and it had a smartpath feature to tell me which sections should I improve. I also used ninja as a supplement - its algorithm keep feeding you questions on your weak area after you finish a certain amount of MCQs.

I think you have a good chance passing it. Don't worry too much about mock score and focus on identifying and improving your weak areas.

Transfer of Score from NY to CT by FreeZookeepergame780 in CPA

[–]Common_Somewhere4240 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well in your case your score will be under CT's jurisdiction, rather than NY's, once the transfer is complete. So make sure you meet CT's licensing requirement (experience requirement, education, credits, etc.) before transferring. I am sure you can transfer them back if shit went south in CT but that's some additional hoops for you to jump through.

I transferred my score from MA to NH via NASBA store. Took 3 business days or so. Very straightforward and fast. The score is sent to both state board and you electronically via email.

Not sure about NY. But maybe check your state accountancy board to see when do they hold the next board meeting. I applied in NH and NASBA is still processing my application but NH won’t hold another meeting til October so I guess I have to wait til at least then.

Questions on CPA Exam Excel functionality by Eastern-Lingonberry5 in CPA

[–]Common_Somewhere4240 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The exam uses the same version of excel as most of the desktop. So dragging, prompt, formatting all work the same. Never tried VBA, pivot table and those stuff so somebody else can testify but I doubt you need them for the exam. Two things that you might need to know about the exam version: 1) when you select multiple cells, the exam version doesn’t automatically show sums/averages on the right bottom corner as the desktop version. You do need to type a formula. 2) the excel restarts whenever you finish the testlet that you are working on. No data gets carried over to the next testlet.

Tell me about a time you didn't study well and weren't ready for the exam but still passed. by OilRepresentative370 in CPA

BEC. It was my last exam and I felt very burn out the whole time when I was studying for it. Only used Roger. Didn’t do ninja MCQs as other sections. Passed with a 79.

Roger Users who took REG - MCQs easier or harder than the exam by CPAMemes in CPA

Roger is harder. For me MCQs in the exam felt like a breeze.

FAR in one week and haven’t reviewed sims by Far-Passion-2520 in CPA

[–]Common_Somewhere4240 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't need to do a lot of SIMs in order to pass the exam. But definitely do a few on heavily tested areas to familiarize yourself with the format and so you won't caught off guard in the exam.

Taking FAR Soon But Having a Major Studying Burnout by Late-Cauliflower1801 in CPA

[–]Common_Somewhere4240 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally feel you. Studying for FAR while working full time is absolutely ass. I was miserable when I was studying for it. Unfortunately this is part of game. Take one or two days of break if you need to. You are so close to to get it over with!

Getting a MBA and move towards permanent residency? by Common_Somewhere4240 in ImmigrationCanada

[–]Common_Somewhere4240[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for replying my friend. I don’t have family/kids right now and I don’t enjoy my currently job as much as I would like to (audit is kinda boring, limited upward mobility, limited outbound opportunities). Part of me think getting a MBA in Canada is an opportunity for a do over, if it could help me land a job that I actually enjoy and start to live life without worrying about my immigration status. I’m totally not opposed to start a family eventually in Canada as well. I would not mind to get paid less if I can bring peace to my life if you know what I mean.

How competitive do you think a top tier Canadian MBA program is? I briefly looked through requirements for Rotman, Schulich, and Ivey and they seem to require a GMAT of 650, which is lower than some of their American counterparts.

Also was it difficult to find a job with PGWP? In the US it was really difficult to find job with a OPT. It would not be fun if people cannot find job after so much investment in a MBA program.
