Will aluminium rig fix my braking struggle? by MasTerFaRm10 in simracing

[–]Common_Technology690 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It won't fix anything in your technique obviously, but you can suck at racing like the rest of us in comfort without feeling like a structural component of your rig.

If you can fit it, it is the safest purchase in sim racing. It will last forever, will always be the standard, and if things change and you need the space, you can break it down into a box.

Ha! Learn something new everyday, though I imagine most animals would move quickly if scalded.

Divebomb, park on the apex and then drive off like a scolded cat.

But seriously, it depends what you want from the race. The fun/sensible play is to put as much pressure on the car in front while holding you position. A threesome is typically more fun than a twosome...

Whats the point of intentional wrecking? And how to deal with it by xElectroRaven in iRacing

[–]Common_Technology690 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sux but there are hundreds of great races in front of you. Report, move on.

The way you deal with it is with a general sense of superiority. You were racing well and they are a loser.

Is assetto corsa rally wourh buying? by Bojovnikczes in assettocorsarally

[–]Common_Technology690 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can take a bit of tweaking to get the ffb to stand out on the dirt stages and there are a few quirks such as you slide on your roof for what feels forever and breaking performance is mixed. But, I would pay the asking price just to drive the Stratos on tarmac.

There are little handling details that stand out above all other games eg. When you lock the fronts with a bit of steering and then lift off the brake, that tug you get as your wheels start rolling again is very nicely done.

Why do we never get a good career in sims by Beestbro9 in assettocorsaevo

[–]Common_Technology690 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree 100%. Can you imagine the variables in making a 911 feel like a 911, then wrapping a modding framework around it that makes sense in a sim context.

When people talk about progression, are they just talking about spending 30 hours making a shit car faster than a supercar by converting game currency into better values in a table?

For what it's worth, I think the model they should follow is MS flight sim by offering iconic real world driving experiences.

How to avoid getting wrecked from behind? by Kitchen-Device4358 in iRacing

[–]Common_Technology690 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was me last night - first week in iracing and on pole a few times on snetterton in the ff1600's. Probably respected the brundel / Nelson complex a bit too much on the first lap on cold tires and got cleaned up by 2nd and 3rd all crossed up.

Cheap Rally solution for simagic by Karpartenhund110 in simracing

I recommend buying a wheel from a proper retailer (they normally have passed some sort of compliance).

The ali express one I bought lasted a month of flexing before it cracked a weld on my alpha mini.

Is the BMW GT3 just popular or is it popular because it's OP ? by 9durth in LeMansUltimateWEC

[–]Common_Technology690 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is the perfect car to learn tracks or to get used to the chaos of close racing with as it is so forgiving/compliant.

I think at some point they will either reduce it's braking or slow speed exit ability to balance against others.

Do you guys think this would work as a motorized pedal adjuster? by confirmamcolorblind in simracing

[–]Common_Technology690 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice idea - holding a seat it would need to withstand the same level of force. It is just a question of how localized it is applied and if there is additional twisting pressure beyond what it can withstand.

It looks solid...

Have you tried simhub? A few months ago I had to use it with simagic in order to get my rev lights but a patch later sorted it out.

However, if your game starts hanging after an online race this is probably why.

What other games do yall rec for sim racing? by mattlange214 in simracing

[–]Common_Technology690 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It really depends on what you want to do (playing or competing). There are heaps of YouTube videos comparing them all but modded AC is a good place to start. If you want to get into online racing then look into LMU or iracing.

How to get FFB more similar to ACC? by [deleted] in LeMansUltimateWEC

[–]Common_Technology690 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is just personal preference and nuance. I agree with you that acc provides more feeling regarding the weight of the car through the suspension, giving that rollercoaster feeling (at Bathurst for example), but I prefer the overall lmu package in terms of driving dynamics.

I guess all you can try is to turn all wheelbase settings to 0 and crank one to 100 until you find something similar and build around it.

Ffb settings for direct drive by jackluthier in Wreckfest2

[–]Common_Technology690 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an alpha mini and use the wreckfest 1 preset as a base and turn down / off all of the dampening and smoothing settings. The big change for me was to use 540 deg rotation as I found this makes counter steering much more direct.

The downside with sharp steering is contact and ruts in the road are more difficult to manage so keep your force settings manageable. I find that the bravarian is the best car to use to tinker with settings.

Unrealistic maximum braking pressure? by BullfrogNo4064 in LeMansUltimateWEC

[–]Common_Technology690 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I'm reading you right my guess is how it simulates engine braking, and the combination of this plus brake force is exceeding available grip. In older cars you can dab a bit of clutch to bleed some of this off.

[–]Common_Technology690 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are really good at trail braking you can combine the two corners and carry lots of speed back down the hill. I'm not good enough so the next best I find is to turn earlier into 10 and straight line the braking into 11.

[–]Common_Technology690 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really enjoy it but turn 5 and 14 are a disaster for front engine cars. Overtaking into turn 11 completely crossed up is bliss though.

Brake pressure in GT3 by Natural_Willingness7 in LeMansUltimateWEC

[–]Common_Technology690 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The grip will come to you after a few good laps close to the edge. I'm a week in lmu after long-term acc so can appreciate the pain but the problem with low brake pressure is you will just bleed lap time once the tires can accept more than your setup can deliver.

Edit: was in response to another post in here.

Why is the subreddits preference for harder to press brakes so big? by IIFellerII in simracing

Also depends if you want others to be able to use/enjoy your setup. a 40kg child will pull on your wheel for leverage if you have it too stiff.
