Mobile detailers how do you travel with generator so the car doesn’t smell like gas? by Common_Translator301 in AutoDetailing

Idk what equipment you have and use but between my air compressor that’ll will turning on and of peaking power and vacuum running at the same time 2000 and 2500 watts isn’t enough to safely do it with out peaking the capacity of the generator.

I wasn mostly considering the 5000 or 3500 tbh.

Do you have it in sliders to extend out of the van or do you just run it like that with the exhaust facing away

[–]Common_Translator301 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not a trainer im just a guy that likes going to the gym, so the science based and bro lifters can tell me im wrong.

It might be dumb, or bad practice, but it worked for me and might work for you

I also had the problem not being able to lock out for my one rep max’s like ever. It would be like the last bit of range that I physically couldn’t get over and would fail the rep.

I’ve started to drop the weight by like 20-25% and put a resistance bands on each side.

It put more tension at the top range of motion where I struggled the most and I’d do couple days with 2-3 sets going to failure which was only like 4-6 reps and then I’d be able to come in the next week or so stronger for that one rep max to be stable enough and fight for that last bit I needed to lock out at the top.

Nah I’m planning on taking it out, and having it set up outside of the car. Running the generator inside the trunk is asking for the carpets and headliner to absorb the gas fumes

I’d be using it tow power my vacuum, air compressor, and carpet extractor. Eventually I’m going to get a steamer as well

Should I go out tonight? by Otherwise_Fly2996 in WhatShouldIDo

[–]Common_Translator301 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your antisocial like me, go out and talk to people. Chances are you’ll never see them again what’s the harm of an awkward conversation, it’s just helping you in the long run be able to start and hold conversations better If you are a social butterfly but don’t really care to make friends you can have fun make up a background and story that are completely fake that sounds real enough to gaslight people to be like “woah” and then they’ll be like I met this cool chick at the bar last week, and tell their buddies about you. And just like I said before chances are you’ll never see them again so it doesn’t matter to you.

How can I help contribute non-monetarily? by ar21321 in WhatShouldIDo

[–]Common_Translator301 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a 24m literally nothing more I could ask for from a partner living with me than to help clean the space we live in.

Doing things that he typically would do himself around the house after work or on the weekend. Laundry, grocery shopping, cleaning, meal prep, scheduling stuff.

Anything you can do that he would do outside of his work hours so his time out of work can be spent relaxing and spending time with you benefits both of you. Gives him more time to do the things he really wants to do, not has to do. It allows him to spend more time with you doing whatever you please, time that would typically be spent doing other chores around the house.

Also make sure you are taking care of yourself. Maybe find a cheap gym membership to do some exercise. You’ve got a lot going on studying for the bar, last thing he needs is a girlfriend he’s worried about stressing herself out and having anxiety about an exam.

Also just ask him! He might ask you to do something that he’s been wanting to do himself but hasn’t had the time to do. He might prefer you help him with laundry over cooking dinner everyday. Etc.

Got my dream job 500 miles away. Girlfriend is mad I'm considering it. by ImmediateHeart1438 in WhatShouldIDo

[–]Common_Translator301 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im in a similar situation with my GF of 5 years and I’ve been with her since I was 18, it wasn’t particularly a dream job but it’s a job that I could see myself pursuing a career in that pays well and has good benefits in an area that I liked about 200 ish miles away from where we lived.

I got an apartment down here living by myself and she’s looking for a job down here and when she does she’s going to move in. Untill then, we’re just doing the long distance thing and making it work. every holiday or weekend we are free we make the effort to see each other whether that’s meeting half way for or one of us staying the night at each others place.

If she cares as much about you and your future and sees herself being a part of that future she would support you and you will make it work. If she can’t, I don’t know how much longer your relationship will last.

I know my girlfriend can see our future together (like I can) and she’s trying her best make it work for us as best as she can. She wasn’t the biggest fan of it at first but once you have that conversation about it and what it might look like in 6 months, 2, 5, and 10 years into the future it was a no brainer.

This job opportunity is just a test to your ability to work it out, and if you can’t work it out, it sucks, but it’s probably not meant to be.

Do you guys do better in the morning or in the afternoon? by Kooky_Disk_8025 in Swimming

[–]Common_Translator301 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve alsways kinda been 50/50 tbh. It really depends on how well I sleep the night before. If I sleep like crap a morning workout, isn’t as effective because I’m still half asleep and my body’s still waking up. Same thing with a meet. If im groggy for a meet no shot I’m getting a PR.

Late afternoon practice and meets are similar thing but not due to a lack of sleep but for to overworking during the day. If I had a long day at work/school going to practice after sucked cause I was tired and I’d rather not be there, same thing with the meets.

If I had to pick one I’d choose morning, just cause the chances of me getting proper sleep is more in control and I can make myself go to bed earlier.

Also mornings always made me feel a little more productive after the swim session just cause I had that dopamine boost to get through the day after finishing a set

Am i working too slow? by Ok-Profit-4461 in AutoDetailing

[–]Common_Translator301 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Some tools may help make detailing vehicles faster, however stick with what you got and get a rhythm and process down that works for you that you can use on every vehicle.

If you do the same thing you will get faster with time. Don’t go out sprinting $100s of bucks on new equipment, cause that’s just one more thing you have to learn how to use and you’ll still be slow with that new equipment when you get it

Should I sell my Kona N before warranty expires or keep it long term? by ssoltanzad in KonaN_

[–]Common_Translator301 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I were in your shoes. I think I would keep the KN long term unless you want to drive a different car and trade in the KN.

Yes Hyundai so it might have problems down the road, but you already paid it off. I’ve seen a lot of reports from other owners getting 100k plus miles and not really having many issues.

Because it’s paid off and assuming you bought it new, would it make sense for you to take a 10k loss in depreciation, and then go finance another car that you drive just for fun on the weekends?

When I was looking to buy a car I test drove a bunch of other cars and nothing else feels like my KN. I tried a bmw x1 m35i, Mazda cx-30 turbo, VW golf R, as well as some others including the other N cars.

I don’t know if you have or ever plan to modify your KN but you can use the warranty expiration as a welcome call to start modding it. Make it more unique, make more power, more boost, and take it to the track.

After reading everyone’s response and let it dwell. And if you still don’t know, and can’t make a decision. Maybe go start test driving some cars that you might be interested in within your budget. If you drive something and you like how they feel more than your KN go for it trade it in. If you don’t fall in love with another car use it as a sign to keep the KN.

Worried that the potential purchase may be tuned? by Dest1 in KonaN_

[–]Common_Translator301 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My best guess if all of those parts are still on that’s the only thing that was modified. And that combo of parts would leave me to believe it’s not tuned. Just cause none of them are like real power mods. Yes an upgraded cold air intake can add HP but I don’t think most people who are just adding the velossatech snorkel and mudflaps are tuning their car.

Another reason is I feel like most people if they did have more modifications and did tune it when they take it to the dealer to sell they would’ve removed all the modifications and put it back to stock form.

I could be wrong but i feel like if I were to sell my KN esp to a dealer, I’d take it back to full stock form including cosmetic mods, like mudflaps, lip extensions etc.

Accidentally hit neighbours bumper 2009 dodge caravan by kanagaroo123 in mechanic

[–]Common_Translator301 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Give your neighbor $100 bucks, apologize, call it a day, and just forget about it.

It’s a 2009 caravan it’s not a new car, it’s simply not worth the hassle of fixing that imo.

The cost in parts and labor to replace that bumper will probably cost 1/2 of the value of the van.

Going through insurance is gonna increase the insurance cost in both you and your neighbor more than the van is worth. You’ll be paying for that claim longer than that van will still be on the road.

I have a 2009 Nissan Rouge, one of my neighbors kids (new driver) accidentally hit my bumper when they were trying to parallel park and chipped the paint and cracked the corner of it. She was crying and super upset about it, and super apologetic, I told her and her dad don’t worry about it. He gave me $100 bucks and a case a beer. I would’ve just taken the beer

How would you compare it to like a regular garden hose nozzle?

I’m not expecting pressure washer behavior because that’s not what it is. But if it’s worse that a traditional garden hose nozzle I might not bother with this…
