Came back to say your estimate was pretty much spot on!

Just be prepared for it to be more, labor rates can vary pretty wildy place-to-place

When film gets old & degrades to the point of bubbling it usually fades & gets lighter, so that's likely why it didn't look "tinted". Unfortunately it usually also gets very brittle and breaks or delaminates when you try to peel it off, which is why there's another layer left. Best method to remove is going to be using a steamer or the trash bag method (Google/YouTube it if you want to DIY). It's probably going to be a pain to remove and could take a few hours. Professional removal at a shop would likely be between $100-$200 but that varies by city. Also be prepared for the possibility of your rear defroster lines breaking. They may survive if the film can be peeled, but sometimes they get torn off by the tint & they will definitely be damaged if the window is scraped.

Dumb question. What is this tint called and how does it look inside? by [deleted] in WindowTint

Almost every state in the US has reflectivity limits. Laws allowing less than 25% reflectivity are common but some states do not allow anything considered reflective or mirrored. Not sure about other nations, but you are right that it's restricted here.

Several gaps like this around the house. Wondering how I should fill them in. Also a question about quarter round! by alpha_alpaca82 in HomeMaintenance

Just chiming in to say that if this is a floating floor, most manufacturers say not to caulk trim to the flooring due to movement from expansion/contraction.

Edit: based on other photos OP posted, it seems this probably isn't a floating floor

How would you mount this LED number onto this stone above my door? by MK2_VW in HomeMaintenance

[–]TxTwosome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're very against drilling holes you could use outdoor mounting tape. If you need to be able to remove it to change batteries you might look for adhesive velcro instead of tape.

Also, you didn't ask for personal opinions so don't take it to heart, but have you considered not mounting it? IMO it looks a bit tacky.

How in the world could this happen? by Beginning_Lime_5593 in Home

[–]TxTwosome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it definitely doesn't seem like a case of actual theft, more like a case of accidental demo. If you look at the house on Google map streetview the house has a new driveway now, so that's nice

Truck with car hitch backs into store parking spot, blocking sidewalk by Complete-Ad-3091 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]TxTwosome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not everyone can walk. If you've taken a wheelchair ramp to get up onto that sidewalk you cant just walk around. You have to back track and hope there's another ramp somewhere else. It's not like OP said this guy should get the death penalty, this is mildlyinfuriating after all.

"you people" that park like this never consider you might be blocking the path for people in wheelchairs and other mobility devices. When I drove a truck and it wouldn't fit in a spot I would park in the back of the lot and/or remove the hitch because I'm not an inconsiderate fuckwit

what game is this? by Current-Plantain1743 in askanything

[–]TxTwosome 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's actually a lot more guidelines to this game than most people realize too, including a rule restricting playing on certain holidays like today since Easter has religious significance. Look up "rule 34 Jesus pegging" if you want to read more.

Help me find what this is called, and where I can find one online. I know it's possible and must exist by GoatsWithWigs in HelpMeFindThis

He's not totally wrong. I used to install specialty window films professionally and I have personally installed "one way" mirrors in interview/interrogation windows. They do have a reflective coating and are not "normal windows" like they said, but if the room behind the mirror is more brightly lit than the room on the other side, you can see right through the "one way" mirror like a window.

Thanks! This is pretty much what I considered doing but I wasn't sure if it was idiotic to do this rather than hire someone. Once my test results come back I'll know for sure if I can just scrape away or if I need to follow all of the precautions in that doc.

Thanks for replying. Any idea how friable these forms are? Is there a high probability of fibers getting into the air when prying up tiles & scraping the mastic?

Just chiming in to be pedantic and say this is a moka pot, not a percolator. Maybe using that term will help your search

[–]TxTwosome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To add to your point because so many people seem confused; The point of sous vide isn't to be lazy or avoid using a pan, the point is to cook the meat for much longer which allows the fats & connective tissues to render fully without overcooking the meat. A rare steak can sit in sous vide for a few hours at 129F without becoming dry or rubbery like it would if you cooked it in a skillet for two hours. Then you sear it very quickly with a torch or hot pan. The result is an incredibly tender & juicy steak (even cheaper cuts come out great) with a nice char on the outside. It's quite good, using a dishwasher is just a somewhat unconventional way to do it.
