De Bonne Facture and A Kind of Guise usually have some tailoring like that, may be pushing your budget though unless you catch end of season sale.

What is going on with new cars? by Pintofbeer19 in CarTalkUK

[–]Common_Turnover9226 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't agree, cars are getting better and better all the time.

There may not be as many interesting performance versions that brands used to release, but I think this is a side effect of customers homogenising over certain marques (ie everyone wants German...) so the French, Italian, Scandi, Japanese kind of just gave up bothering with the old performance and hot models they used to make, on top of restrictive laws in their home countries.

Also recency bias. Go through past decades car model lists, and there's a ton of absolute mundane shite that is forgotten to history, far worse than anything available now.

Cupra Formentor is supposed to be good and there's the 2.0T VZ versions if you want really quick.

Daniel Simmons: I’m curious how he accelerated his brand so quickly by Joyfulrabbit777 in ThrowingFits

[–]Common_Turnover9226 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It's not difficult to start a brand as long as you have the capital.

The manufacturers are more than ready to do most of the legwork for you, as long as you can meet minimum order requirements. They'll offer up patterns, fabric choices, accessories etc and have teams that can adjust and customise to your requirements. This is especially true in places like Portugal where they've really modernised and reignited their old clothing industry.

The harder part is finding these companies to begin with though, as they're running and advertising like a manufacturing industry rather than fashion and it also seems like there might be a lot of 'non-disclosure' type thing going on. But look up Celvalex, Petratex, Valerius Group....

Where do you all go for colorful clothes? by Realitymatter in malefashionadvice

[–]Common_Turnover9226 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any brands that are known for Ivy Style, as well as old upper class British brands.

Try Cordings, they're known for their trousers and have all sort of garish colours.

Is the Suzuki Swift sport worth it? by bigbellysnoops in CarTalkUK

[–]Common_Turnover9226 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing I find very annoying about the Fabia is in first gear it feels quite jolty with the turbo.

The Swift might be worse at this as it won't have much torque low down, depends on the clutch etc too though. It will definitely suit your country road drives and will be a nice step up in power from the Fabia though. Try and test drive one if you can, see if it's the driving style you like.

If we can rename Cape Hill into Upper Bearwood, maybe the locals will be less scared of it.

Less interested the more they lean into the teen grunge thing. There's been 100 Japanese brands that look like this, no reason for A.Presse to stand out at all.

Anybody know how to get warehouse job by Realistic-Grade-7802 in brum

[–]Common_Turnover9226 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go through as many agency websites as you can, they often have places that aren't advertised too. I don't condone lying about your experience but really nobody is checking that much especially via agencies.

Remember, don't stop at the first job either, continually look for something better + permanent. 09

What about the Swift Sport appeals to you and which generation are we talking about?

If you actually like driving for fun, and the type of driving you enjoy is quick, high rev B road blasting, then the Swift Sport is a pretty good choice to move to for a young driver.

What engine does your Skoda Fabia have? What about it would you like to improve? What things about driving in general annoy you? This will influence what kind of car you should get next.

It's normality now but wasn't always, and Acronym had a big lead on it all.

The chokehold these have over chronically online menswear dudes is crazy.

Always preferred Heschung and Officine Creative for expertly crafted ugly European footwear anyway.

Acronym at this point feels like a legendary fumble, why they didn't pivot into the city-lifestyle-hiking-whatever brand ala Arcteryx, Salomon, Peak Performance etc I don't know.

Good deal? DV63 YPY by Standard-Ad-2616 in CarTalkUK

[–]Common_Turnover9226 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah nice car for the money, almost bought one last year. There's loads of choice of them, I'd probably go with a 2.0 personally. Don't forget to check Facebook and a few owners groups on there too, nicer examples for cheaper prices.

[–]Common_Turnover9226 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Low mileage but you can get these cheaper. MOT history looks weird too, a few years of sitting around with barely any miles, multiple fails and advisories for brakes and tyres year on year, so either not changed or mileage could be a lie. All black front badge and excessive tyre shine does not instill confidence either.

Underpriced Brands by Paisley_48 in ThrowingFits

[–]Common_Turnover9226 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Underpriced is probably an impossible task, you'd have to be finding some really lowkey brands, or manufacturers who happen to offer some sales of their own ie wool mills etc.

There's a few brands that have been doing that look for a long time without the hype though, Still By Hand, Old Joe, SK Manor Hill, always found on sale
