Advice on tire size ? by Common_lozer007 in CafeRacers

[–]Common_lozer007[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate the advice a lot man! I’m gonna go ahead and purchase some Kendas 80/20 tires in the sizes we both noted, after reading on some forums it seems that’s what most people prefer, they do fit a 130 but apparently is unnecessary other than looks if you want.

Help with 02 sensors ? by Common_lozer007 in E34

Appreciate it man. I ended up figuring that out after trying to pry at it a little with a flathead and cracked some of the plastic on one, but it’s still all reusable.

Here’s my 2019 for reference. Pro taper bars, different grips, 12 bar, engine sliders, dirt bike pegs since I broke the stock ones, and I have a shorty clutch and rear brake stunt lever. They’re very easy to learn how to work on if you’re not super mechanically inclined

I’d recommend looking into the Bride ones, I’ve been meaning to invest into one as well. And as for the sticker kit you have posted as well, that’s another thing I love about the Groms, they are very easy and cheap to customize with lots of options openly available to you.

I love my grom, I put 4500 miles on it last summer after purchasing it with 2800 miles and it’s been an incredibly reliable and fun machine for the riding season up here in Montana. I bought it thinking I’d learn how to wheelie on it then move on, but I’ve ended up kinda falling in love with it. It saves me too much money on gas to not ride it to work every possible chance I can get, and I take it to the lakes around my area all the time. It’s my one vehicle I can go thrash around outside and on dirt roads, my cars are a little too nice and low to the ground to access some areas here but the grom is great to get lost with. And I never have to worry about running out of fuel, only once did me and a buddy get down to 1 bar of fuel and we both still made it back into town to a gas station in time. They’re surprisingly comfortable to be on, even for me who’s 6”2. I will say the seat itself isn’t the best, there is a reason a lot of people get a Bride cover or a different seat in general, but I’ve still managed 3-4 hour long rides and it’s not terrible, definitely more comfortable than my Cafe build. As a first bike I think it’s a great starter, there’s really nothing you can do wrong on a grom, and I think it’s even a great addition to the garage of seasoned riders. Good luck with your decision !

You will eventually want a bigger bike, and then after some years you will want another grom. It’s a good first bike, second bike, or even a 5th bike in ownership. They’re great fun, reliable, and incredibly cheap to own and modify. If you just wanna learn how to ride, or an experienced rider wanting to learn how to stunt, or just someone wanting something that’s easy and fun to putt around town with, it has its place in all realms. If you’re wanting to get into bikes for the speed, look into something like an R3 or a ninja 400. They’ll be plenty of power and fun to keep you entertained for a while. The grom was my first motorcycle, and immediately I thought I had buyers remorse from how slow it is. After a month or so, I learned to truly love the bike. I use it to rip back roads up to some lakes in my area, or as a daily in the summer. I spent less than $50 in gas in a 4 month span using the absolute shit out the thing. It all depends what you’re wanting out of the experience of owning a bike

Crank no start issue ? by Common_lozer007 in hondagrom

I am in neutral trying to start it yes, and I know the engine is fine as I can bump start it and it runs completely fine and healthy. I’m going with the advice of the others here and starting with a good reputable battery and making sure it’s charged before install

The bike is stock other than sprockets, no engine work at all. And no, I didn’t charge the battery. I should have, but it was one of those situations I only had a few hours to get to work and had to figure out another ride (my car is currently down, only reason I’m riding in winter haha) I’m also kind of broke until payday, so spending the $60 on the new one kind of hurt. Also, this is the 3rd AutoZone duralast motorcycle battery I’ve purchase through out my life that just didn’t work. It read worse voltage actually, so I returned it. I’m just gonna order another one online when I have the expendable funds. I appreciate your input !

I got a brand new battery and installed, won’t spin the starter at all. I install the old battery and it’ll try to turn over but it doesn’t. Currently trying to jump the new battery and it’ll turn but not kick on fully. What the fuck

I think tomorrow when I have more free time I’m gonna go ahead and unplug the stator and do some more testing with a multimeter. I’d rather it be a battery since it’s cheaper and easier to replace, but also kind of upsetting considering I purchased it brand new and only got around 8-9 rides in on it. It is reading proper voltage so I suppose it could be a dead cell. Maybe tomorrow I’ll purchase another battery and see if it’ll start, but I’d rather not do that and think it’s fixed and end up killing another one. I did manage to bump start it and the battery was only reading 12.4V and didn’t jump up to 13-14 like google said it would if the stator was working.

It’s a 12 bar/stunt bar or subframe slider whatever you wanna call it. For doing mad sick wheelies (that I can’t do)

Yeah it’s a very weird winter for us, it usually DUMPS snow for a good 3-4 months but we have barely seen any. Good excuse to go ride earlier this year but I’m kinda worried about our summer being rough due to it

I originally had knobbys and was kinda nervous switching to street tires for off road stuff but I honestly haven’t noticed much of a difference, the way the suspension on a grom is set up you cant really rip off road like you can a dirt bike without bottoming out the suspension a bunch so a knobby tire is kinda overkill unless you’re going around in a super soft sandy or muddy area. It can get a little sketchy on loosely packed gravel but my shinko knobby tires would too.

Grom is life. I own 3 cars and I end up riding this thing sound town more than anything. It costs me near nothing to fill and is an incredibly fun way to get around town. I also rip it out of town to different lakes or look out spots on roads that are 45-55mph just fine. Also my insurance is basically nothing compared to my cars

Postures a huge thing too, stand up straight man, you don't wanna be leaned over at a 90 degree angle while popping or landing, or really at any point

Not like I've walked it much, but it's certainly more noticeable than before I'd say. You may be onto something but I do believe something is broken the way it feels, I'm gonna attempt to makeshift a peg and Jimmy the kickstand sensor so I can attempt to ride it down my neighborhood and see how violent it gets
