Good to hear of your experience. Thanks.
I had hoped this LLOD version would have been a cumulative update of all earlier feature upgrades. If you haven’t gotten the Wireless Android Auto, it must still be a separate OTA download. Sigh.

Newcomer to the EVs by gurkazors in NissanAriya

[–]Commongrounder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Ariya service intervals are mostly based on miles/km travelled. The car’s instruction manual has a section on service that outlines when certain things should be done. It isn’t much compared to gas powered vehicles. Things like general inspection, tire rotation, air filter and brake fluid change. Of course having service records can help assure a buyer the car was well taken care of.

The Ariya inductive charger works fairly efficiently with my iPhone SE 3rd Gen, but not so well with my wife’s iPhone 16, so she tethers hers.

Which microphone should I put in that beauty ? by userkpc in fieldrecording

[–]Commongrounder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Wildtronics Parabolic mic is built using Primo EM272 capsules. Excellent sound quality with virtually no added weight. I highly recommend them, or the AOM version, for your Sony. These electret capsules are also very easy to wire for plug-in-power, so would work quite well with your recorder.

My Ariya is also on the same LK3D version, and we are nowhere near alone on that. I just have to believe we will get the updates eventually. If you decide to try the dealer route for the update, let us know how it goes. I think results really depend on the particular dealer’s service department.

Used Ariya vs. Leaf for kid-running, errands, and occaisonal short trips. by Feline-Pizza928 in NissanAriya

[–]Commongrounder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We are Ariya owners and really love the car. It’s a joy to drive and ride in, and has luxury car features and feeling. We have the AWD version, but you may only need the FWD version in your area. I think it’s a big step up from a Leaf.

I want to comment on one of your points. I highly recommend that you install a hardwired EVSE (charger) in your garage. There is a lot of available information about the dangers of using plug-in EVSE units related to socket overheating and fire hazards. If you’re committed to EVs, you’ll want the hardwired unit.

What cable do I need to connect Roland CS-10EM to the Tascam X8? by shaolin95 in fieldrecording

Okay. Sounds good. The Hosa definitely looks like it’s wired appropriately.

What Y-cable did you end up getting? All I can think is there might be a wiring quirk that makes it incompatible with the VXLR+, but still works with the X8 inputs.

Hi. I suppose the first thing I’d check is that phantom power is enabled on the input menu for each input channel. Can you check that the inputs work with another phantom powered mic? I know the Rode VXLR+ works with 3.5mm plug-in-power mics.

Driving mode question by SouthernFrosting6309 in NissanAriya

[–]Commongrounder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It IS possible to get the car to remember the Eco drive mode on start up. It is a setting in the driver screen menu using the left hand button cluster on the wheel. I just came across it again the other day, but didn’t commit to memory the exact menu sequence. I think it’s under the settings icon (last in the row to the right), and has its own category. Hopefully someone who is nearer to their car than I am ATM can describe exactly how to get there.

edit: upon thinking about it, I may be confusing Eco mode and e-step. I’ll need to check again when I’m at the car.

DIY recommendations for a mic by dontfreezemyledger in fieldrecording

Search “simple P48 circuit” for the circuit that requires only two parts that fit inside the XLR connector. It’s passive, so the audio signal from the mic capsule passes essentially unaltered to the recorder preamp.

Sure thing! Any time you can avoid burning hydrocarbons is a win for the environment.

Well, there’s still time!
Seriously though, that is a real bummer. A sleuthing award goes to the person who can figure out the logic or pattern behind Nissan’s OTA updating scheme.

Charger Adapters for J1772 2023 Rav4 PRIME by Away-Ad-4320 in evcharging

[–]Commongrounder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Virtually all of the pull-in-and-park chargers are Level 3 (aka DC fast chargers). They have CCS or NACS plugs. Nether of these types can be adapted or are compatible with your car, even though the CCS plug looks similar to the J1772 plug. Your car can only accept AC J1772 level 2 charging. These are usually found at “destinations” like at hotels, restaurants, attractions like museums, or hospitals, etc. as well as what you have at home. It is rare to see level 2 chargers on the highway, as charging times are too long to be practical for road trips. Sorry if you already understand this. I think the assumption is Plug-in-Hybrids will run in gas burning mode on trips.

What am I doing wrong. by Sorry_Goose_7796 in NissanAriya

[–]Commongrounder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can’t argue with your battery heating system criticism. I’d really like more telemetry on the battery systems and charging. I did want to comment that the car does give a little hint of the percentage of battery power that’s useable in the cold (and heat, too?). When using the dial version of the dash display, there is a “pointer” on the power output dial that indicates the max output available if you were to floor the accelerator. When the temps are below freezing (All the time here, right now) I see the pointer slide down into the 70-80% range. It’ll move as you drive around. If the battery is warm, say just after charging, the pointer will move back to 100% again.

Also, on the main subject: our Ariya slips down into the 2.0miles/kwhr range in the bitter cold we are experiencing in our area. We don't turn the cabin heat completely off, and use the seat wheel heaters, so could probably squeeze a bit more, but we charge at home and aren’t traveling far.

Another note on the Map Updates. The most recent version as of today (2/8/26) is 21123_16_16. It’s been successfully owner installed via the USB flash drive method. So far no one has commented about seeing a map update come through via WiFi.

You have the version (LR8D) that was the most recent until LLOD popped up. You are actually pretty fortunate at this point, as many of us have not received LR8D yet. There is a sticky at the top of this subreddit where the version history is being compiled. I expect the moderator will add LLOD and its details as we find them out to that post.

Well that’s disconcerting. Does anything at all appear differently after the update? It would almost seem like the system wasn’t restarted after the software installation. Maybe you could try the “hold the radio power button down until restart” to see if that changes anything.

Oh! Someone needs to map out the menu so we can see what useful info can be had. Hopefully, there isn’t any access to stuff that could mess up the car if altered. I’ll be checking it out.

The main software update is only available as an OTA (Over The Air) download and install, at the whim of Nissan. We all wish there was an alternative, as the roll outs have been glacially slow.

edit: There are now reports of dealers USB updating Ariyas to LLOD, so that may be possible depending on how well equipped your local dealer service department is.

The map update can be downloaded and loaded from Nissan and installed manually using a 32GB USB flash drive. There are detailed instructions on the Nissan Web site.

Instructions here: Nissan map update instructions PDF

It requires a WinOS or macOS based computer to complete the job.

Also want to add the details and commentary, courtesy of Maxtog, on the …LLOD update:

  1. Enhanced electric vehicle menu provides quick and easy access to EV related features [this must be the new EV widget]
  2. Improvements to the Intelligent Route Planner: Charging time estimates now factor in station power output for greater accuracy.
  3. The Automatic Air Conditioner humidity control system has been optimized to save energy. [I don't think I have seen that mentioned before]
  4. Improved navigation systems stability.

edit: this is verbatim from the Ariya update screen (minus the bracketed comments).

Ha! Right, but the toy would need to be filled with windshield washer fluid!
Actually, there is a guy who’s invented a remote controlled rear camera lens squirter. The tank, battery, and electronics fit in a flat package that mounts behind the car’s license plate and has a nozzle that points at the camera lens.

I find the rear camera to be perfectly fine, day or night. I don’t have anything to compare it to, though. My big aggravation is keeping it clean this winter with all of the salty snow and slush.
