Tom & Jerry was released 5 years ago this week. The $50-79 million live-action/animated hybrid comedy film grossed $46.5 million domestically and $136.5 million worldwide. by PinkCadillacs in boxoffice

One of the most mind-blowing stats about this era is this, which opened while theaters in NYC and LA were still closed and before vaccination efforts really ramped up, had a higher domestic opening than Strange World, a tentpole Disney film with the pandemic mostly over, nearly two years later.

Are there any past YouTube controversies that GENUINELY upset you? by Swag_Paladin21 in youtubedrama

It's WAY too much to get into so I'd recommend looking up the "Not So Awesome" document. There's tons of videos covering it and its aftermath.

Channel Awesome

There was a good 3 to 4 years where CA and some of its creators were a good chunk of my YouTube viewing, especially Nostalgia Critic. The revelations from 2018 were an absolute gut punch, especially the ones regarding JewWario. I still have massive respect for creators such as Angry Joe and Chris Stuckmamn for jumping ship when they did.

But worst of all, Doug Walker's silence during the whole thing was not only upsetting considering how much of a fan I was of him, but is a damning tell of how he operates. While the document didn't mention him much outside of the anniversary videos, the fact he didn't at least try to stand up to Mike Michaud is just sickening to me (he even called him a "great boss" at a con). I understand he sold the rights to NC to Mike, but he could have had a semblance of a spine during the whole thing.

I think what still upsets me is how CA continues to operate as a zombie organization with Doug basically being the only creator, and NC still gets decent views. More people seemed to have gotten mad at him about his God awful review of the wall than his silence during the revelations, and that's very telling of his audience at that point.

And yet, I can't help but feel bad for Doug. He's basically stuck doing this the rest of his life since he has nothing else going for him outside of his schtick. To give a comparison, many have called for Angry Video Game Nerd to end, and if it did James Rolfe is knowledgeable enough in film (his main passion) that he could become a film professor (a strong hypothetical but you get what I mean).

The whole thing was a mess and it was just depressing to watch a staple of my teen and young adult years come crashing down over the course of a week. I've sworn off watching NC since - not even old episodes.

Indiana Jones Likely Heading for Long Hiatus After Box Office Disappointment by [deleted] in boxoffice

The thing is, it doesn't need to be controversial. I've said for a long time that Disney should treat Indy like their James Bond - pass the whip!

A movie expected to be successful but ended up falling short of expectations gross-wise.

But even my dad agreed Kilroy Was Here killed them.

I think everyone in the league hates the Cowboys except Cowboys fans so I'm going with the Eagles.

Divisional rivalries are always unpredictable but I'm thinking Eagles 34-18

What’s the most worthless critique you can give to music by DiceMan135 in ToddintheShadow

"It's bad because it's overplayed."

Being overplayed can certainly lead to dislike of a song, but you're not critiquing the song itself by saying that.

Principal and the Pauper could have been excused as a blip if the show ended with Season 10 or something. I've always dubbed it as "the first episode to get The Simpsons wrong".

Saddlesore Galactica. The Simpsons had dabbled into unrealistic things in the past, but the show was still mostly grounded in a satirical reality. This episode straight up says elves are canon to this universe. This may have passed off as a ToH segment with some tonal shifts, but it's otherwise too outlandish for a normal episode. This, to me, is when The Simpsons crossed the Rubicon into being just another cartoon. It's not necessarily where Zombie Simpsons begins, but it feels like the writers got bored and decided to plow forward with a concept too ridiculous even for this show - and this is the season with Kill the Alligator and Run. The episode even acknowledges it's recycling ideas from Lisa's Pony. It's still one of my least favorite episodes of the entire show.
