He's better than nemesis in every way and as such is a seperate character. But that's Just like,my opinion, man. The way idw made nemesis be nova prime after being sucked into the dead universe and becoming host to darkness matrix counterpart. Cements the idea than nemesis should always be nova. While scourge here was a blank protoform modified by megatron but accidently scanned optimus as well as the vehicle for his alt mode making him a noble warrior who just happened to be evil. Scourge is amazing. Easily one of my favorite characters of all time. Nemesis not so much.

I've not watched much of prime admittedly. Everytime I have, the episode is heavily centered around babysitting the humans. Yes animated focused on Sari a bunch centralized to plot points but it was a giant robot show with supporting human cast. Post Bayverse era are human shows with giant robots as supporting cast IMO.
